Post subject:  BATTLE of the SIMILAR FILMS 1 - Magician films from 2006
As has been discussed previously, Hollywood studios have often released competing film projects on similar or the same projects within the same year.

I'm planning to run a series of polls to determine which of each competing film KJ prefers. Will keep each poll up for a few days.

If we get enough votes - I'll add a bunch more and then put up a summary of winners/losers in a separate thread.

Battle 1 - The Prestige Vs. The Illusionist - both magician films came out in 2006. The Prestige was the more successful one with Nolan coming of Batman Begins but The Illusionist has it's own fan base.

The Prestige - I have either not seen the Illusionist, or I completely forgot it

The Illusionist is a solid film though I also prefer The Prestige. I recall seeing The Illusionist after many online (KJ included perhaps) were saying how they liked it more than The Prestige. I was disappointed when I didn't concur.

Well back in the day all the cool film elitists would say “you know, The Illusionist was Actually the better film.” It was the start of the anti-Nolan movement.

Obviously no one says that anymore. :funny:

I liked the 2010 Illusionist animated movie over these two somehow I saw that movie in 2006. Of the two I prefer The Prestige.

The Prestige is Top-100 all time for me. I remember enjoying the Illusionist, felt it was lush and romantic and decently engaging... but then I never watched it again and basically forgot what happened in it.

The Prestige pretty easily, though I liked Illusionist.

This is hard. Both are great. But I'll give The Prestige the slight edge.
