I watched La La Land again, and I think it does too much. I think it almost would've been a better movie without the singing numbers. My vote is the Favourite. |

I've thought about it and it's actually the scene with them dancing in the parking lot and flying around the observatory that goes too far. It makes them seem like love over all people, which is the opposite of their decision to let Mia pursue her acting career 100% over their relationship at the end, and is the type of scenes characters from a different type of musical would do. I think keeping Another Day of Sun, Someone in the Crowd and Audition works because they're related to their career dreams (and City of Stars can stay I guess). If they just flirted in the parking lot and kissed in the observatory it would've also made the running time leaner. Tie goes to whoever has the most written out votes |
