Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
It’s sad that if you wanted to remove the 2D films from the poll, the only one Disney animation loses is Winnie. Wish there was more Princess and the Frog type moves

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
Disney for sure because of consistent output of good-to-great films. Pixar movies were either great or trash.

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
Oooh shit, tough choice.
My favorites are Toy Story 3, Inside Out, and Moana, in that order.
I think both studios had some mediocre output... but Pixar, with its higher output and higher incidence of stupid sequels, suffers more from a sense of backlash, squandering their goodwill generated in the previous decade (seriously, unreal: Monsters, Inc. (2001), Finding Nemo (2003), The Incredibles (2004), Cars (2006), Ratatouille (2007), WALL•E (2008), Up! (2009)). Their output this decade includes 5 sequels to 2000-era films and 2 sequels to a 90’s film. I’ve also skipped more Pixar movies this decade: Haven’t bothered with Cars 2 & 3, The Good Dinosaur, or Toy Story 4.
Pixar’s highs are higher than Disney’s but they’re dragged down by lower ratio of original content.
So...... I can’t decide. Leaning Pixar actually. Disney more consistently in the “solid, not amazing” camp.

I'll go with Pixar. Inside Out and Coco are really terrific.

I'd rank them
Coco
Zootopia Frozen Inside Out Moana
Ralph Breaks The Internet Toy Story 3 Incredibles 2
Cars 3 Tangled Monsters U Frozen 2 Big Hero 6 Brave Winnie the Pooh Wreck-It Ralph Toy Story 4
Finding Dory The Good Dinosaur Cars 2
Disney - 107 points Pixar - 103 points
So DAS wins it but just barely.

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
1. Tangled A+ 2. Coco A+ 3. Inside Out A+ 4. Toy Story 3 A+ 5. Moana A 6. Frozen A 7. Ralph Breaks the Internet A- 8. Brave A- 9. Zootopia A- 10. Wreck It Ralph B+ 11. Finding Dory B+ 12. Winnie the Pooh B+ 13. Cars 3 B+ 14. Big Hero 6 C+ 15. Monsters University C 16. Cars 2 C 17. Incredibles 2 C 18. The Good Dinosaur D
Pixar average rank 10.7 average grade B- Disney average rank 8 average grade B+
Disney was more consistent, had only one major misfire for me in Big Hero 6 Pixar released Coco and Inside Out, and their best sequel in Toy Story 3. But so many of their other films sucked.

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
I have to go with Disney. Pixar is still capable of producing amazing films that Disney still can't quite achieve (Coco, Inside Out), but they just aren't as reliable as Disney in releasing consistently good/great films these days.

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
Cars 3 is awesome. If it was Cars 1 it’d be among their most beloved but the rest of the franchise brings its reputation down. Monsters U is great too but the prequel aspect hurts it a bit because it made Mike seem completely delusional and unrelatable for a good chunk of the film.

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
Of the ones listed:
Toy Story 3 - 10 Cars 2 - 7 Brave - 9.5 Monsters University - 9 Inside Out - 10 The Good Dinosaur - 8 Finding Dory - 9.5 Cars 3 - 9 Coco - 10 Incredibles 2 - 9.5 Toy Story 4 - 9 AVERAGE - 9.13
Tangled - 9 Wreck-It-Ralph - 9 Frozen - 10 Big Hero 6 - 9 Zootopia - 9 Moana - 9.5 Ralph Breaks the Internet - 8 AVERAGE - 9.07
(I haven't seen Frozen 2 or Winnie the Pooh)
I'd imagine Frozen 2 won't be a 10, but if it's a 9.5 then it would be a tie between the 2.
But Pixar gave me Inside Out, so even if it was a tie, that would trump anything Disney has done.

Re: Better decade - Pixar or Disney animation?
It comes down to each categories champion, Coco and Moana for me.
And that may be the toughest choice.
I can't choose.
