Lol, hopping on the bandwagon. Didn't hurt the PP films. You don't get more comic book movie than a Charlie's Angels adaptation.

I love Banks. This is stupid of her to say. Like, women read comic books. Women are a large portion of comic book movie audiences.

Love her too.

This argument is becoming such a broken record. It had nothing to do with the mixed reviews, lackluster marketing campaign, or stale property.

Maybe it flopped beacuse no one asked for a sequel?

And whoever asked for one sure as fuck didn't want Kristen Stewart in the lead.

Her argument is ridiculous.

I think most people do it now to sell their movies as a marketing stunt. They know that media and mostly internet crowd will eat anything that is tagged to Marvel.

Charlie's Angels flopped because it's a property that now has three separate revivals in less than 20 years and was barely wanted only one of those times with the Diaz/Liu/Barrymore original flick. The original TV series was campy silliness that belongs in that era. It's hard to bring that to a new generation because a campy action series doesn't fly, and if you don't make it campy, why bother reviving it?

I also like the argument that comic book movies favor a male audience (which admittedly is true), but you can't include Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman as counter arguments because they're still male-driven. What? Don't discount the power those two films have at starring a lead female character. That's going against your message. Does she also discount The Hunger Games: Catching Fire being the highest grossing film of the year AND starring a female lead? Cause she was in that franchise, she should remember the importance of that.

It makes no sense to say "Charlie's Angels flopped because men" when 1) women are 51% of the population, 2) as any box office aficionado would know, women make the majority of movie-going decisions, 3) Charlie's Angels has been a successful property multiple times in the past.

The truth is women saw these three leads who looked like Instagram models on xanax and said NO.

Oh please. After:

-Chips
-Baywatch
-Power Rangers
-Shaft
-Tomb Raider
-Men in Black
-Robin Hood
-XXX 2
-King Arthur
-The Mummy

How do they not realize that nobody wants to see these movies beforehand?

HEY! Power Rangers was a good idea. They just had bad costume designers and an inflated budget. The rest had no reason to be made.

Wasn't Power Rangers a mild hit? The recent version made more money than the 94 version adjusted (or at least similar).
