haven't seen nearly enough movies yet for a top 10 that feels proper... the top 5 here are in another league entirely from the 5 that follow.

Barbie
Saltburn
Poor Things
Across the Spider-verse
Oppenheimer

Knock at the Cabin
Magic Mike's Last Dance
M3GAN
Boy and the Heron
Bottoms / TMNT / Theater Camp

Haven't seen enough to feel good about a top 10 list yet, but here's my top 5 and it's the most action packed one I've had since a long time.

1. Oppenheimer
2. The Equalizer 3
3. John Wick: Chapter 4
4. Extraction 2
5. Sisu

I have now seen three films from 2023 and I would rank them:

1. The Boy and the Heron
2. Barbie
3 The Super Mario Bros Movie.

I liked the Boy and the Heron but it is not a favorite of mine.

Barbie was well made but not my cup of tea.

The Super Mario Bros Movie was mediocre outside of Bowser who they surprisingly nailed

Get to 5 at least so you can fill out most categories on your KJ award ballot. :shades:

Really great year overall so you shouldn't have trouble finding a few good ones. I have 23 films with 4 stars or above and still have stuff to watch. 2022 is currently standing at only 14.

1. Oppenheimer
2. Asteroid City
3. Godzilla Minus One (Minus Color)
4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
5. John Wick: Chapter 4
6. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
8. Bottoms
9. Ferrari
10. Poor Things

I've seen 64 movies and I have a watchlist on Letterboxd of 35 movies that I still want to see from 2023. I'd say spots 4-10 are still up for grabs. I don't see anything unseating Oppenheimer or Asteroid City, and I don't see Godzilla getting bumped from the list entirely.

6. Poor Things
7. Scream 6

Nine more movies. One new movie on the list and some reshuffling.

1. Oppenheimer
2. Asteroid City
3. Godzilla Minus One
4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
5. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. +1
6. John Wick: Chapter 4 -1
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
8. Bottoms
9. The Holdovers
10. Poor Things

73 2023 movies. It's the fewest I've seen from a year since 2020.
