Result from yesterday!

Thanos (over Whiplash) 7 to 0
Loki (over Kaecilius) 7 to 0
Killmonger (over Ronan) 6 to 1
Hela (over Abomination) 5 to 2
Vulture (over Children of Thanos) 5 to 2
Winter Soldier (over Yellowjacket) 6 to 1
Ultron (over Ego) 5 to 2
Red Skull (over Obadiah Stane) 4 to 3

So the new bracket is:

1. Thanos (Avengers 3) vs 8. Red Skull (Captain America)
2. Loki (Thor/Avengers) vs 10. Ultron (Avengers 2)
3. Erik Killmonger (Black Panther) vs 6. The Winter Soldier (Captain America 2)
4. Hela (Thor 3) vs 5. Vulture (Spider-Man 1)

Vote away!

I am surprised people don't like Ego more. I liked Russell and Peter's emotional battle with him

Speaking of villains, my article on Thanos http://wokj.worldofkj.com/how-thanos-re ... r-villain/

It's not that people don't like Ego. It's that Ultron is more known. Between the two, Ego is more likely to require a Google search to see who he is, and people can't be fucked to do that. So Ultron wins by default.

Spader’s Ultron is great, I’d vote for him over Vulture and Hela too. The only issue is that he doesn’t really seem worthy of the combined might of The Avengers.

I liked Kurt Russell too, but 2/3rds of that movie is spent waiting for him to turn heel on Peter. It’s not that fun to watch.

If only in the first post of the previous round someone would have put the movies each villain was in! IF ONLY!

I've missed it but the results are a bit shit as it seems Killmonger is going all the way. Propped up by black power etc when both he and Black Panther were mediocre. Another one being propped up is Vulture because everyone wants to prove Disney's better than Sony or some shit, but in truth Vulture was another boring generic villain.

Anyway most of Marvel villains are shit.

1. Thanos
2. Loki

3. Hela

4. Ultron
5. Ego
6. Red Skull
7. Winter Soldier

Not sure anyone else is worth mentioning. The last 2 may not even be worthy either. Ego/Ultron are borderline.

Which really means Marvel has 2 villains out of 22 movies and Hela mainly because of Cate Blanchett's performance.

Ronan deserved to go further. A much more menacing, fantastical performance and character than the boring-as-shit Killmonger.

The Vulture works because he’s so relatable. The scene where he asks Peter to stay in the car before homecoming sends chills down the spine, as many can relate to being intimidated by their girlfriends dad.

I was think a week ago how a big part of Thanos delivering as a villain is at the end of the movie he was victorious, something they've also done with Sith villains. But you can't always go the cliffhanger route, so there other ways to give the villains a win. You can make sure that the hero's victory was Pyrrhic (Joker, Khan), you can have it so there's a second, more antagonistic figure who goes down to elevate them (Hannibal Lecter, Magneto), or you can make it so they accomplish their goals, no matter how myopic they might be. (Gollum's objective was to take the Ring from Frodo, and never be separated from it again. However short-lived that victory was, on paper, mission accomplished.)
