Game of Thrones Season 7 was so disappointing toward the end that I find it hard to be excited for 8.

Infinity War certainly made me excited for Endgame so that.

The drop off in Season 6 when they lose Martin's source material seemed like an obvious drop off to me when I was catching up.

The High Sparrow plot is a good example where they had Cersei and Margaery in jail at the start of season 6, knew what they wanted the big finale scene to be, but had no idea what to to with them the other 9 episodes until then. Whereas in the 5th season even if it was hardly the most popular plotline, the story had a direction and chess pieces moving with Tommen being manipulated by the High Sparrow etc. Likewise Dany is in that Dothraki camp until the 4th episode when it feels like the story could have been told in 1.
