I have heard westerns were like the superhero films of their era. The genre has gotten so formulaic that we are due for a self aware parody phase like Blazing Saddles or Scream/Scary Movie What superhero tropes would you love them to make fun of? |

The genre has certainly been parodied before: Blankman The Ambigiously Gay Duo Superhero Movie Deadpool Kick-Ass Scott Pilgrim The problem with the genre is that they already do poke enough fun at themselves. Westerns were very serious back then. You need a genre like that and then go light hearted. Part of the reason why Tropic Thunder was the last parody to do really well. That being said, I have been writing a comedy Superhero film, but more on the filmmaking process. So I've been working on a comic character that inhibits a lot of different backstories. |

That's a good point. Marvel already makes jokes so it's harder to turn it into a comedy. I still think superhero films are so such a big part of pop culture that if someone really nailed a parody movie, it could be big |

Well I don't think an original piece will ever be bigger than deadpool. 1.5 billion and counting and the Christmas version is pure genius. |

If this thread was made in 2012, you'd have a point. |

There isn't much left that hasn't been parodied. Is there a great comedy for each genre already? In some cases more than one, most cases many bad ones. |

It's great when a franchise makes its own parody, such as with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. |
