Haven't seen the shape of water, but birdman definitely after gravity and the revenant, and that's a tough choice between the two.

Only Gravity is anything special. Revenant and Birdman are forgettable Oscar bait.

I'm not forgetting that bear fight anytime soon if ever or the determination to survive and avenge his son.

Gravity and The Revenant are both a solid A-.

Shape of Water is a B+.

Birdman is decent for about half an hour then becomes incredibly obnoxious. And then Michael Keaton went back to playing a comic book character with wings afterward. THE PREQUEL TO THE SPIDER MAN PREQUEL LOL DEY ISNT REAL MOVIES. Fuck Birdman. :P

Yeah, The Revenant is decent but I don't have any desire to watch it again. I was a bit underwhelmed at the time. I feel like we were told it was good, rather than enjoying the film and liking it organically. Birdman was great. I want to rewatch it again just thinking about it. But Gravity wins this. Just a brilliant experience.

1. The Revenant (love it)
2. Gravity (very good)
3. Birdman (ok)

Havent seen Shape of Water and have no desire to see it (not much of a Del Toro fan outside of Crimson Tide).

Crimson Tide is awesome, Denzel and Jackman were great, probably my favorite Tony Scott movie.

I still have to see Crimson Tide as an adult. Didn't get on with it when I was younger. Too boring perhaps.

I saw it in a theatre when I was 17. Loved it then. Not sure what I'd think now though.

The Revenant is my favorite of the four. I have a few issues with it, but it is a vigorous and beautiful movie with terrific performances by DiCaprio and Hardy.

I adore Alfonso Cuarón...except for Gravity. I'll go to bat all day for Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Y tu mamá también , Great Expectations, and A Little Princess.

Voted for Birdman because of Keaton.

GRAVITY (simply one of my favorite movie-going experiences ever, saw this twice in IMAX and each time gave me existential chills)

then
BIRDMAN (insanely original and energetic, I love the beat of this movie and its sweet suicide end note)

&

THE REVENANT (this was a raw cinematic experience that dimmed slightly in retrospect, not sure why)

I loved all three of the above movies but have not re-watched any of them since the theater.

in a far distant fourth place comes THE SHAPE OF WATER. Doesn't speak well for the long term prospects of this movie's value that it has zero votes here.

1. Gravity A
2. Birdman A
3. The Shape of Water B+
4. The Revenant B+

The Revenant is the worst for me. It was still good, but I feel like we were told it's good rather than feeling it myself. IT WAS A DIFFICULT SHOOT. But why should I care about that? Why should that positively affect my experience? It's a good film, but it is really not that special. Gravity is, and Birdman is.

Less people have seen it. But that may change now.
