I am not very excited for a sequel on this one because I am sure they will go too much action route with the next one and I don't think that's why this one worked.

Agreed. To ensure the whole 6 film story arc succeeds, they will need the sequels to be very grounded in the characters' high school lives for it to maintain its quality story-wise. However, if they want to go for a single cash-in sequel, today's audiences would likely prefer an all-action mindless sequel.
