Depp will be fine. He is in several upcoming films that will help turn around his career. He has just made some bad choices like Lone Ranger and was stuck in a contract to do Alice through the Looking Glass. Rumor is he will either be the bad guy Gellert Grindelwald or could play a young Albus Dumbledore.

I don't know, he just seems too old to play either considering the setting of the films. Also, I don't think they will cast an American to play Dumbledore. Rowling is pretty strict when it comes to that.

You could just have Gambon play Dumbledore, considering his scenes with young Tom Riddle in HALF-BLOOD PRINCE are set only a decade after FANTASTIC BEASTS.

Gambon is 76 though. Harris died in the role when he was 72. They're probably very much aware of that especially if the character becomes more prominent over the 5 films. I doubt it's Depp though. Isn't Dumbledore already confirmed for part 1 anyway.

Realize Dumbledore and Grindelwald were about 150 years old in Deathly Hallows. So they should look like they are in their 40-50s during the 1920s. It is probably more likely that Depp is Grindelwald since he isn't British. I don't think Dumbledore has been cast yet, at least not officially.

I was a little off, however they would be in the mid 40s during the time of the film. Depp is only 50 and doesn't look it.
