 Is It Just Me or Has The World Aged Many Years in Just a Few
Is it just me or has pop culture shifted far more over the past few years than any few-year stretch that I can recall.
Yes, time flies. With 2017 upon us, it feels weird to think that it has already been 5 years since The Dark Knight sequel and The Hunger Games, 10 years since the epic trio of 3's in May 2007, etc. But something I can't quite put my finger has the sense that changes far more dramatic when compared to the past have occurred over the past few years. Trends and the general buzz in today's pop culture just seems to have changed far more dramatically than any 3 to 4 year period that I can recall.
Perhaps it is the millennial generation truly coming of age, maybe this is the immergence of the new truly post-recession mindset, but pop culture at the dawn of 2017 is virtually unrecognizable from 2012. While minor changes were visible from say, 2002 to 2012, it frankly didn't feel that dramatic.
I find this era to be more unpredictable than any in recent memory. Recalling many films which were hits in 2012 through 2014, I imagine their gross being very different if they were released today.

The biggest change is the emergence of China as a comparable market to America. It was already big back in the early 2010s, but now China can completely save a bomb like Warcraft. You can't make movies just for Americans and expect to make a profit.

Yeah not really.
Its still all about franchises as it was 5 years ago (though perhaps even more so). Only major differences are;
a. the demise of the mid range film (perhaps thanks to Netflix and the re-invigoration of TV) b. the increasing influence of the foreign market on studio decisions
Though these are not sudden and have been building over the last decade.

Can you elaborate more on why you think this, cause I don't see it personally.
It is crazy how long it's been since 2008 and 2009 films, sports, etc. I've been on KJ a long time.

Though these are not sudden and have been building over the last decade. Probably best explanation. A few trends which had been surfacing over the past few years seem to have finally come to fruition.
