Obviously this was going to happen, but surprised by a two year gap instead of three. Curious whether they'll try and launch a spin-off series ala Minions. |

I said this in the other thread too - but I'm not sure why there would be a huge drop-off (particularly in just two years). It seems to be pretty well liked (despite being average) and is holding well. Bottom line is that a sequel, even if it earns less than the original, is still going to be massively profitable with Illumination's business model. They basically can't lose. |

Even $50m, I would consider as a "big drop off". |

This should be very successful from Uni's standards but I do wonder how low will this go. DM2 was the highest in that franchise and did $368m the exact number TSLoP made. I think this will do slightly better than DM3 and cross $300m again. |

Patton Oswalt is replacing Louis C.K. in this. I guess that's a lateral move, although the two don't sound much alike. |
