I am mixed on this. I loved his work on the fifth film, but I also love the fact that each of the previous films had a different director. That is one of the things keeping the franchise fresh. |

Best thing for the franchise, will make for a solid film. And it's low-risk. I would have preferred they would try something new here, but really I don't care about the director too much as long as Cruise is still in it. |

Eh, not a great casting but I'll roll with it because I know Cruise and co. will make it work. |

Are we hoping this is the last one? Outside of 2 they are all fantastic, though 5 was definitely a old concert band doing their best of hits. I hope its Cruises Swan song for the franchise. |

I don't know. I'd love Cruise to Logan it. Another Rogue Nation might really sour it. What is Cruise's next big stunt is what I want to know. Last two he is hanging off of something. A spaceship would be repetitive. Maybe they literally have to kill him in the next film to keep it interesting. |

Another entry with them having to find unique ways to fool guards and crack into an "un-penetrable" safe or building might be shit. I believe they just need to change up the locations a bit. They need to Skyfall it, in my opinion. Maybe instead of Russia, Dubai, and sand, they go jungle, Japan, or Canadian wilderness. Keeping it raw would be cool. No need to make it R. I think PG-13 works well for this franchise. |

My hopes for M:I-6: - Slightly more grounded content and tone. Move the dial closer to the espionage of the first rather than repeating Ghost Protocol. - A stronger, more distinctive opponent for Hunt. Not a franchise strong suit (I would say only the third has a great antagonist), but still. - Ethan Hunt and his team should just go on a mission for the IMF. Don't yet again center the plot on, "They are wrongly disavowed/forced into the cold; they have to save the IMF from itself; Hunt is the target now; etc., etc." - No family-related plotting. At this point, the third film's marital subplot excepted, the franchise has invested in Ethan Hunt as a mostly empty, highly variable vessel for Cruise's athleticism and charisma. Don't follow Spectre and Jason Bourne down the trite route of, "But, wait, everything truly stems from the resentful adopted brother/dead father/etc. The stakes must be higher because this is so personal!" |

I'm all for those, especially the third one. It's film land. They can just say in one line that the IMF is back in action and we'll accept it. Franchises usually have problems with the second point. No villain is ever a match for the hero. |

And if I remember correctly, Rogue Nation ends with Alec Baldwin's character being appointed as the new IMF chief after collaborating with and becoming sympathetic toward Hunt. So they should maybe run with a type of Bond-M dynamic rather than once again portraying the IMF as corrupt, closing down, etc. |

I know Cruise and McQuarrie are bros now, but if MI continues they should go in a new direction. I'd rather not see another one where they're just hopping around the globe. It worked for Ghost Protocol, but that was before every spy film started doing it. |

It certainly confirms that they're making it larger than the previous ones. But probably still a load of globe-trotting, sorry Flava. |

That helicopter stunt appears unnecessarily crazy especially in the current capabilities of visual effects. No need to risk losing a grip just to get shredded over a petty stunt. |

He's fucking nuts enough to hang on the side of a helicopter, but I don't think he's suicidal and not wearing a harness. With the way the helicopter is climbing he has to be wearing a harness around his back or waist that we can't see. He doesn't have a good enough grip on the door to support his full body weight. Or he has the most amazing balance of any human being to ever live, which considering its Cruise, might be a possibility. I think he also wore a harness for the opening airplane sequence in Rogue Nation. |
