They'll come to an agreement. It would be suicidal for Sony not too. Now they get 95% of the profits from the Spidey Marvel films. So what if they have to cede another 10% or so to Marvel/Disney? The pie will be larger if they stick with Marvel.

I am glad this has happened. Not too fond of MCU Spidey movies though Holland is not a bad actor. I hope they make a Spidey Multi Verse live action movie bringing back Tobey and Garland as well. That should have Yuge potential. Get Raimi back in director chair as well.

Totally agree, this is great news.

The MCU Spidey films have been boring and bad.

Well Grace thinks Sony and Disney will agree on something since Disney is building some theme park with a Spider-Man attraction as the centerpiece.

I think they will reach a deal. I bet they'll negotiate that Disney gets 15-20% profit. 50% is ludicrous.

MCU Spidey is whatever to me but to completely go back on films that rely heavily on the MCU would be bizarre. If it ends up being better than the just okay Homecoming and FFH then I'm up for it though.

Most reports say Marvel/Disney was asking for 50/50. Sony obviously would never take that.

50/50 is pretty rough unless Spidey 3 was going to be a big team up film. If it’s more like FFH, it should be closer to 66/34 in favor of Sony and then Disney can have Spidey as the “lead” of the next Avengers film.

Sony is disputing this news though. So now I’m wondering if negotiations are not finalized, and that Disney leaked this just to get some extra leverage.

I believe Sony never countered and wanted to remain at 5%.

50% is too high off-course, I think 25-30% for Disney would be reasonable as long as Sony can still use Spider-man in their own films (i.e. with Venom and co.).

Also in regards to Disney's request - I suspect Sony gets nothing from Avengers films that Spidey appears in. So 50% is a bit much even if its only a negotiation tactic.

Sony did not go to Disney asking for a deal. Marvel went to Sony who after initially declining the deal agreed later. I dont see why they have to re negotiate. Sony did not get anything from MCU movies made by Disney.

Let’s also not forget that after their plans for a Sinister Six franchise crumbled, all Sony had on deck was the Aunt May origin film. Yes- Aunt May. Now they have $2B box office and two successful spinoff films. That does not happen without Disney. Sure they’ll probably be fine the next few years with sequels to Venom and Spiderverse, but what happens when that good will runs out? Will we be back to the Auntvengers? I give it four years before they crawl back only having accomplished one thing- losing a potential major crossover with Spidey 3: Secret Invasion.

Here's a reason Disney shouldn't be the greedy scoundrel---->

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ ... n-a-748281

Sony gets none of that and that was 2013.
Disney is getting 18-50 million off the SM box office. I believe they keep every red cent from their own Marvel films that SM is appearing in.
Also, let's just say SM was never in the MCU even the stinker ASM2 did 700+. Sony would have been just fine not sharing him but it was a win/win for both studios to share him. It can and will probably still be that way as long as Disney isn't being a greedy bastard.

She Hulk, Miss Marvel and Moon Knight will be on D+. I wish MM could have started in a movie, but the other two are great choices for TV.

"For the moment the door is closed." - Sony Pictures chief

I think when the dust settles, Spider-Man will have had its own universe outside the MCU. The situation was similar when the launch of Disney+ led to Netflix ending its Marvel series. No need for each party to give credence to the other brand.

Kevin Fiege said all 3 characters will pop up in other MCU films. They won’t regulate them just to Disney+ Streaming.

Well that’s good news. Makes sense with the original film actors doing episodic shows who will turn back up in future movies. They better find the right actors . Makes my interest go up

Knew it would happen. Sony isn’t dumb enough to risk a Holland Spidey movie going full Dark Phoenix.
