Taika Waititi has met with Marvel to craft a new film.

Not Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Cavill is done with Superman.

Good. Wiping the slate clean is the only way to move forward.

I've see a lot of "oh, it's a shame Cavill didn't get a chance to play a well-written Superman" comments today, but the bottom line is he was terrible in the role three times and it's a stretch to imagine he'd suddenly knock it out of the park.

He should have quit after Man of Steel. He's the second best Superman I've experienced.

I feel like the writing has been on the wall for Cavill and Affleck since BvS opened and right there after when Warner’s decided to still go ahead with Snyder’s Justice League, but I didn’t think Cavill would be out because of salary and what he wanted for a Shazam cameo.

The best I can hope for as a Superman fan is that Warners still moves ahead with that Flashpoint movie and do a soft reboot of the series by introducing a new Superman and Batman. That’d be smart though and Warners has never been smart with DC. They’ll just plow ahead and hope Aquaman is a hit and make those five Harley/Joker films. And they can’t be serious with a Supergirl movie being a priority. Marvel could get away with making that movie. DC can’t right now. And she’s nowhere near as iconic as Wonder Woman, so if they’re expecting to strike gold again, they won’t.

Thanks again Snyder!

Clearly a smart decision by Cavill. I doubt they will struggle to find another chiseled tall guy who looks like Superman when given the hair and costume

I don’t see it anywhere online, but my friend texted me a rumor that Michael B Jordan would be WBs top choice. Which would be ... interesting. Clearly a great actor but it becomes a whole different character with him. There’d be at least one scene where dumb police wrongly shoot at him only to see the bullets bounce off.

It’s fucking sad we didn’t get MOS 2 :(

BvS is basically Man of Steel 2 and Justice League is MoS 3. The side films have nothing to do with the overall arc.

LOL, how about just directly cast Kaepernick, it's not like the Supermen have ever been known to be good actors.

I disagree, I think they were too much other stories about other things. Especially JL just didn't apply him sufficiently, but I think we can say the combination of those films is MOS 2.

That would be the worst decision any studio has ever made. Superman will just be an angry black dude. Not what Superman is at all. Jordan doesn't have the range. His performances rely on being owed something, and Superman is the complete opposite.

I think anything can work as long as they make it good.
At the moment I'm not feeling it either, and I think Jordan is great. They'd have to change the whole angle maybe, go away with krypton maybe etc.

And it seems nowadays a social justice choice can bring in the dough.
But just because it's DC I wouldn't trust them with anything they're planning to cook up with it.

The Eternals gets a director in Chloe Zao. Could be their November 2020 release. Black Widow will also be that year, but what do they replace Guardians with as their heavy hitter? Do the X-Men come in sooner than expected?

I saw these betting odds for Superman.

3/1 Colin O’Donoghue; 3/1 Michael B Jordan; 6/1 Sam Claflin; 10/1 Armie Hammer; 10/1 Channing Tatum; 10/1 Cillian Murphy; 10/1 Donald Glover; 12/1 James Norton; 12/1 Matt Bomer; 12/1 Matthew Goode; 16/1 Aiden Turner; 16/1 Chris Pine; 16/1 Richard Madden; 16/1 Tom Hiddleston; 20/1 Adam Driver; 25/1 Jon Hamm

As a big Once fan I was interested to see Colin O'Donoghue that high, but I don't see the Superman fit. He would be a great fit for Batman as he can play a little darker and and anti-hero. Armie Hammer would be a great Superman pick for me but the question is whether he wants it, he's succeeded in the Social Network and CMBYN and failed as the Lone Ranger, I think he should go for the lower scale Oscar nomination career. Hate MBJ fit not only because of being black but because of his character style. I think if they cast a black guy as a famous white superhero it should have been Glover as Peter Parker since he has the right personality. Either way if some of these choices are accurate they're probably doing the right thing by not just casting a guy cause he looks like Christopher Reeve, because nobody liked Routh or Cavill as much as Reeve so it was impossible for them. Someone who's big but otherwise looks different like Hammer or Hamm would be fine

I think like with all those other times they probably have to go for a relative unknown...but it depends on the story they will use too really. I'd wish they develop Kingdom Come, but anything better than another origin would be fine.

Should have stuck with Gotham City Sirens. Much more appealing title that people would get immediately.

Lol. Even though there's virtually zero chance of it happening (Tatum said he has no idea what the current status is recently, which doesn't bode well) it's amazing how long this project hung in there despite countless directors, release dates, etc.

Joker and Wonder Woman being so close together is weird. Wonder if Joker will be moved up, should take New Mutants' spot.

I truly don’t get Fox giving yet another date to Gambit. Are they just going through the motions, knowing that the project will be killed by Disney’s execs but still doing their jobs until the axe falls?
