EXCLUSIVE: Nu Image will kick off talks on what is likely to become one of the must-haves of the market as Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman prepare to reprise their roles from the original action smash.

Millennium Films is producing and financing London Has Fallen and Alan Siegel and Gerard Butler’s G-Base will also produce.

Focus Features will release in the US under the auspices of incoming CEO Peter Schlessel, whose FilmDistrict distributed the original last spring.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in London on May 5 2014 on the story of a plot to strike the city during the funeral of the British Prime Minister. Only the President Of The United States, his secret service head and an English MI6 agent can save the day. Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell also star.

Butler, Siegel, Mark Gill, Matt O’Toole and Danny Lerner will serve as producers while executive producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson and Christine Crow.

Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger will return to write the screenplay and the producers are out to directors.

Olympus Has Fallen (pictured) scored $161m worldwide earlier this year, of which $62.1m came from international and $98.9m from domestic box office.

This is so, so idiotic. ;) I can hardly believe it is real. On a financial level, it could easily plummet from the first film, which was simply the right film at the right time. Stateside, at least. I do not get the sense audiences are clamoring for the return of these characters, particularly without the White House conceit.

I s'pose this is an indication of the caliber of films Focus Features will be distributing under its new leadership as they move away from the art-house.

this could be really good and it could even be somewhere around #75 - 100 on trixster's top list 50 years from now.

Terrible.

I don't mind Olympus, it's decent but this is just silly. This time the President will be one if the action heroes and it didn't work in WHD and won't work here.

Olympus is one of the worst films of the year, IMO.

I wish James Schamus were still CEO of Focus Features. That company will probably go down the toilet now, quality wise. :(

I thought Olympus was great fun but this seems more like an April Fool's joke.

You must be getting it mixed up with White House Down.

Yeah Olympus is miles better than WHD and is actually a fairly decent action movie.

And including the President on the action is dumb if your President is JAMIE FOXX. This won't be as dumb as that.

The first wasn't good at all. It was so dull. If this actually happens, I'll be passing.

This could make some nice money if marketed right. That poster is aces.

Although this reminds me of that brief period about six years ago when Gerard Butler was a thing.

The poster is great and I cannot wait for the film, but I am not sure this film has potential to make any big money. A lot of these CGI destruction films looks alike and are marketed alike too. I don't see a lot of the non-target audience being wowed into cinemas with these posters. But I cannot wait for a trailer.

This won't match the original's gross. September and October are far too crowded with adult dramas for this to break out. Still the first was decent so this should still attract a solid opening weekend atleast.
