This is so, so idiotic.
I can hardly believe it is real. On a financial level, it could easily plummet from the first film, which was simply the right film at the right time. Stateside, at least. I do not get the sense audiences are clamoring for the return of these characters, particularly without the White House conceit.I s'pose this is an indication of the caliber of films Focus Features will be distributing under its new leadership as they move away from the art-house.
