"It was back in 2011 when Warner Bros. was interested in developing a sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 comedy, Beetlejuice. Soon thereafter, it was confirmed that leading man Michael Keaton was being sought to reprise his role. Today, TheWrap has confirmed Schmoes Know's scoop from earlier this week that Burton has received an offer to direct."

Beetlejuice is wonderful and a major nostalgic favorite of mine, so I will root for this project even as I suspect it may be best to leave well enough alone.

Burton is not the one in talks for Alice 2. Apparently James Bobin is in talks to do it.

I wasn't particularly a fan of the first, but it is interesting to watch the continuing renaissance of Michael Keaton.

Jenny Ortega is in talks to join a sequel! She's in negotiations to play Lydia's daughter. :whaa:

Keaton, Ryder and Ohara are returning with Tim Burton directing. Production set to start in May or June this year.

With Ortega involved this is finally going to get a fastrack, especially after Scream opens. She's well on her way now.

This sounds like it could now be MASSIVE. Lots of generation overlap and love for the original and pulling in Ortega + Ryder seems like its going to be a perfect combo.

Aubrey as her best friend?! :thumbsup:

THR had a tidbit that Ortega used to have “consistent dreams” about Beetlejuice when she was younger so seems like she really loves the original as well.

Definitely seeing $150M+ potential here and possibly $200M+. The Burton + Ortega team brought Wednesday to breakout global success and this is their movie follow up to that.
