 Top Ten 1981
1. Nighthawks 2. Escape to Victory 3. Raiders of the Lost Ark 4. For Your Eyes Only 5. Superman II 6. Excalibur 7. The Cannonball Run 8. Clash of the Titans 9. Body Heat 10. The Dogs of War
Wow, another not so great year. My #9 and #10 are only there because I've seen them, not because I wanted them on the list.
What's your Top Ten 1981 movies?

 Re: Top Ten 1981
david has a weakness for ambitious, but overlong and convoluted epics like reds and heaven's gate. so my logical conclusion is that bertolucci's novecento is his #1 movie of 1976.

 Re: Top Ten 1981
A better year than 1980 but not by a huge amount
Raiders of the Lost Ark Time Bandits Arthur Reds Superman II
That's it; none of the other films from 1981 would make a "favorites" list

 Re: Top Ten 1981
I loved this year, and my favorite film of all time is here. No Escape from New York for anyone?
1. Raiders 2. The Road Warrior 3. Escape from New York 4. Thief 5. Superman II (I know I put it in 80 too, but that's more of filler for a small year) 6. Stripes 7. Time Bandits 8. Halloween II (Friday the 13th Part II was a major step up from Part 1) 9. Blow Out 10 Cannonball Run or Body Heat.
Honorable Mention- History of the World Part 1, The Great Muppet Caper, Reds, Mommie Dearest, The Howling, and Gallipoli, Scanners, Nighthawks

 Re: Top Ten 1981
I'm betting that anyone who doesn't have Jean-Jacques Beineix' Diva on their 1981 top ten list hasn't seen it. Works great as a double feature with Roman Polanski's Frantic.

 Re: Top Ten 1981
Frantic is amazing. Unlucky that it was released in a year where 10 movies were better. I felt bad leaving it off.
