 Re: Once popular actors/actresses whose careers went nowhere I'd hardly count the star of the Teen Wolf show ever as popular.
I'm starting to sense Christian Bale is going to finding his way on here soon. American Hustle already feels like a lifetime ago. His next couple of films don't seem they will do much to fuel his reputation. The most interesting is probably Adam McKay's first drama film that he is in next year. The cast is fantastic.

I thought the main focus of this thread was people who had a few hit roles within the span of a couple years, seemed primed to break into the big time/remain a big star, then basically vanished from the A-list?

He's definitely looking more like n the Reeve, Keaton camp then the Jackman, Jr. Stance. Obviously his film career will never end. his mainstr an appeal is on the outs. Exodus was pure shit

A better example would be Henry Thomas. 34 years working, but he went from being the main actor in the highest grossing movie of its time to a supporting player in TV series and an occasional supporting role in feature films.

Re: Once popular actors/actresses whose careers went nowhere Henry Thomas is a great example I didn't think of. Though he's one of the "still has steady work" types, he never became a star beyond E.T.
C. Thomas Howell is another great example. Again, steady work, but just about all of his co-stars in The Outsiders went on to longer/bigger careers as stars/major supporting players than Howell did. (I don't know if we'll ever know whether or not Soul Man killed his starring career - he doesn't ever say anything like that, but I seriously do wonder if that made studios/producers/casting directors think twice...)

She isn't as big as she was in 2005 with Million Dollar Baby, but then I wouldn't say her career went nowhere. She is taking credible roles where she can, and hasn't just faded into obscurity. She isn't a hugely pretty actress like Nicole Kidman or Angelina Jolie, but she does have talent, so she gets decent roles, not showy, glamour-puss roles.

He's usually been cast as a pretty boy side actor, and I think he still has that status right now. Looking ahead I agree there don't seem to be any big projects in front of him aside from the Pirates sequel, but there's no way he's fallen from such a height, you can call it going nowhere now. I recently mentioned Swank and she has a lot more ground to cover to get back where she was than Bloom.
