Offered in both 2D and in 3D showings, with force-feedback and simulator-type motorized tilting seats, wind and fog FX with jets of water, smoke, and bubbles available, with strobe lights, and 1000 different Smell-o-Vision scents, all synced by a special control track which is added to the film or digital print, and coming soon to Los Angeles and New York.
The reports indicate that 4DX will add another $13 to the adult ticket price, on top of any 3D pricing.
I searched the forums here, but only found two references to 4DX posted by members in countries where the systems are already in play, indicating sold-out shows.

Is it a passing trend, or, what do you think about the simulator experience married to movie-going?
And for members here who have tried it, does the simulator prevent you from leaving your seat for any reason? Is there a button to shut off the seats if and when you need to exit, or if you get sick, or are you stuck in the seat for the duration of a typical 2 1/2 hour movie?

Iron Man 3 will be offered in 4DX, in Japan and elsewhere.

It'll be shit to begin with, I'm sure. Only after a few years of testing it to see when it's best integrated into the story and experience will it be worthwhile.

On its debut in Seoul, Korea, it opened with the film "Avatar".
That may have been a very good movie to start with.

There's 0% chance I'm spending any upcharge for a film delivered in whatever this 4dx is.

Yep, me too.

This 4DX should be reserved for fairgrounds and tourist attractions, not cinemas.

...That I control and it's for the other seats. Sure. I'll pay double the surcharge.

The 4DX theaters has been in Mexico for a few years, i think in 2011. We finally got one last year where i live and it debuted with Avatar. I didnt get to see it in that theater but i heard it was an awesome experience. I went to see Prometheus and it wasnt all that great. I guess you need to pick the right movie to have a great experience. Over here it cost $129 Mx pesos, that about $10 Dlls.

Currently we have Oblivion on 4DX, This friday will get Iron Man 3.

Anyone try out 4DX more recently, is it more improved? Considering trying it out for San Andreas or Jurassic World.

I saw San Andreas and Jurassic World in 4Dx...

San Andreas was an awesome experience, not so much for Jurassic World. Great and fun movie dont get me wrong, but not the kind of movie you NEED to see in 4D.

darn it, I was considering San Andreas very strongly but decided to wait for JW since it's a much bigger movie. tickets are way too expensive to do both ($27.50 usually, $16 on Tuesdays), now is too late to try out San Andreas.

had such a blast at Jurassic World in 4DX. now wishing had tried San Andreas, Mad Max, or Furious 7 in 4DX as well, don't think I can go back to normal theaters for action films again. definitely a must-try for anyone who hasn't experienced it yet

 Like everything, Its definitely depends on taste. My fiance had a blast with Jurassic World. I thought it was annoying :P I just dont like to be sprayed and shaken like that during a movie, i guess. I want to enjoy my soda, nachos and popcorn while sitting on a recliner seat.

Mad Max is returning to 4DX for 1 week, I haven't watched it yet. worth paying premium to watch this in 4DX theater or just watch at home for free?

Fury Road is among the best blockbusters of the 21st century. Also Miller framed all the action in the center of the frame to make the 3D extra coherent and the majority of the film is a giant car chase so it seems particularly suited to the format.

Yet Miller actively recomends to watch the film in 2D.

Yeah, and I was originally going to see it in 2D for that reason. Ended up at a 3D showing and was pretty damn impressed how well the 3D worked considering how the film was shot.

On a general note, it does seem like moving seats would make it easy for 3D to be distorted. If I ever do 4DX I'm not sure I'd want to see something in 3D.

The 4DX works really surprisingly well for Beauty and the Beast. Moresothan the action scenes, the dancing and singing scenes and the tracking shots Are significantly enhanced with 4DX. Highly recommend for 4DX.

Of the five films I've seen in 4DX, I'd rank the 4DX experience as follows:

1 Beauty and the Beast
2 Jurassic World
3 Star Wars: The Force Awakens
4 Kung Fu Panda 3
5 Logan
