Is this really what we've come too? Both the trailer for Alex Cross and Looper use the same dubstep-like song in their action climax. It's not that I hate dubstep on general principle, it just comes off as rather jarring and strange. Then again trailer music is often times plenty hokey so maybe it's not that bad.
What do you think? Will it become a trend? Do you hope it doesn't? Do you think the music choice works in either trailer?

It's effective, IMO. It's exciting and gives the footage a live-wire, propulsive feel. It could become old, yes, just as "Lux Aeterna" did, but I can easily roll with it for now.
It also just seems a natural evolution in this post-Inception/Social Network era. Emphasis on modern music and evocative, epic sounds versus more traditional orchestral music.
