Post Bradley Witherberry..
..are there any films where you agree with popular opinion?

Just wondered as you always seems to go against the grain. I'd just like to know. Feel free not to answer this question if you wish. No big deal.

He loves Moulin Rouge!, which I consider a popular film in general.

He tends to mainly go against the grain of Internet movie fans, rejecting the hyped fantasy and superhero films and such. I am sure he often agrees with critics and general audiences.

I answered a similar question earlier this month in the Memento review thread...

Bradley....for shame

Popular?

It only made $39m WW, and I saw it opening weekend.

Sadly, it remains Nolan's only good film.

:(

(However, your overall theory is flawed - - in the past 5 years I have enjoyed such top 20 movies as Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Bridesmaids, Shrek Forever After, Little Fockers, The King's Speech, The Last Airbender, Avatar, The Hangover, 2012, GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, Taken, Iron Man, and Gran Torino.)

In the meantime, I also enjoyed Django Unchained which seems to be doing pretty good at the BO too.

(BTW, Algren - - you seem to have had a large presence on the board in the past month - - did you previously have another username that I would be more familiar with?)

Yes. It was Algren.

The above movies I noted were popular based on their box office, however based on another measure of popularity (corporate media critics' grades), I wonder how I compare?

Here's the list of Rotten Tomatoes Top 100 Movies Of All Time - - in my brief run through of the list, I'd say I enjoyed almost all of the 40 or so films I've seen on it.

(BTW, that is one heck of an unusual list distorted as it is through the bizarro filter of RT, but their #2 film is a particular favorite doc of mine.)

See, this is what I'm talking about; The Last Airbender was universally hated. Little Fockers wasn't generally liked either, nor was GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, yet you are giving them as examples. But it doesn't matter much because you also gave Avatar, Iron Man, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Taken as examples too, and they were adored, so that's cool. Thanks. Thread successful.

Admit it, though, you do like to go against the grain a little bit, right? There's no shame in that. It's sometimes satisfying to be overly negative about a movie that certain crowds never shut up about - it's good to rile people without consequence, I've done that before, I'm sure we all have.

Nope. Always been Algren.

:funny: You've gone from troll to snob in a month. Very impressive.

BW also once said Little Fockers underperformed at the box office because it was "too funny" and went above the mainstream public's sensibilities.
