Post Discussion for the September 16th-18th openers
Wide releases:
I Don't Know How She Does It
Straw Dogs
Drive
The Lion King 3D

.... Is there anyone who wants to see something that isn't Drive? Or would you rather pass on all four openers? For what it's worth, there's an intriguing line up of limited release openers, including

3, the latest Euro-drama from director Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run)

Happy, Happy a frothy Norwegian sex comedy that looks charming and fun:

The Mill and the Cross, a strange experiment where a filmmaker has cinematically recreated the Bruegel's painting The Way to Calvary. It may not be the most entertaining movie of the weekend, but the visuals deserve mention:

My Afternoons with Marguerite, a French crowd-pleaser about a chance encounter between two unlikely souls, a nearly illiterate man (played by GĂ©rard Depardieu! )and a 95 year-old woman).

Restless, Gus Van Sant's morbid teen romance, which sounds like a bit of a misstep for him. If I were the distributor and trying to make a quick buck I'd have released it on it's original January 28th date, but Sony doesn't seem to have a whole lot of confidence with it.

Stay Cool, an '80s throwback with an eclectic cast including Josh Holloway (basically the only reason I'm listing it)

Drive definitely. Probably nothing else, though The Mill and the Cross looks interesting.

Drive, Straw Dogs, and I Don't Know How She Does It. As for the limited releases, I'm also interested in 3.

I'm super-excited for Drive. I'll also see Straw Dogs.

Also pumped for Van Sant's Restless, which opens in my area next weekend.

I will definitely see Drive. Straw Dogs and I Don't Know How She Does It are maybes depending on if I have time/I hear good things about them. I've already seen The Lion King a million times.
