They bug me a lot. I don't know what your guys opinion is but I think my anger with them peaked when I saw X-Men last night. There were about four people around me (including one of my friends) who were on their phone texting while the movie was playing. The person sitting next to me, who wasn't part of our group, was on his phone the entire time.

What bugs me so much about it is that one it is rude, but also it is just a waste of money. You are wasting $10 to just sit in a dark auditorium and text away your money. Whenever I go the theater I just turn off my phone right away just to not get distracted.

What's your guys opinion on this?

I hate that too. I think that theaters should just jam the signal. I know that's illegal, but it shouldn't be. If I were making a theater I'd pour an extra layer of concrete to weaken the signal. That way I'm not braking any laws (safety first right?) and if dicks need to make calls and text they can go outside and then do that.

Right next to you, Hope you said something to them!

Also annoying is whenever someone is on the phone, especially when texting, the phone light is so distracting, that takes away from the screen.

Truthfully just as annoying is someone eating loudly near you, especially someone chomping on popcorn.

That always makes me move as they will be making noise for 30 minutes, usually.

Yeah, it's definitely really irritating. Almost every time I see a movie that's sold there are always several people on the phone the entire time.

Sometimes I do check my cell phone what time it is, but I do it really quickly... I remember when I saw Avatar for the second time I did it constantly 'cause I was kind of restless and some guy whispered for me to stop, so I don't do that much anymore. :funny:

I texted my friend (who is sitting next to me) while I was watching in the theater that played 'Tron: Legacy'. The text said; 'i'm bored let's get out'.

They're annoying. Almost everything the average teenager does in a theatre is annoying.

Cellphone lights are the worst. I had to throw popcorn at a person a couple of rows in front of me who was using her phone bec. it had distracting lights right before a screening of Cars.

You have to see it at a theatre with a strict no phone policy during the show. One theatre I go to that has that rarely if ever have I seen a phone light on. Now other theatres it's a different story and if you watch something in the evening then you are more likely to run into it. Finally, if it's a dollar theatre I live with it but if I paid like 7 or 10 bucks and it's a continuing disturbance I'm gonna find an usher.

Watch out for the returning gunfire in many theatres.

Or even more creative retaliations, including a meat thermometer to the neck!

After all these years (5), they didn't happen. Luckily, people here retaliate in less violent means.

And honestly, despite what some would think, "arthouse" movie goers don't really do that much better of a job than mainstream audiences. Fucking hipsters are always doing shit on their phones and old people tend to talk during a film.

Eh, this is partly true, but, still, art-house audiences tend to be a lot more respectful than mainstream/multiplex ones. An elderly couple talking to each other a bit too much is a lot less annoying than the shit roving groups of teenagers do.
