 G.I. Joe: Retaliation Delayed Until 2013 Quote: In a surprising move, Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of their upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation until March 29, 2013, a full nine months after its originally planned release date of June 29th.
Part of the postponement allows for the film to undergo a full 3D conversion.
"It is increasingly evident that 3D resonates with movie-goers globally and together with Paramount, we made the decision to bring fans an even more immersive entertainment experience," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro's President and CEO in an official statement.
The new date puts the sequel up against Andrew Niccol's adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host.
Starring D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, G.I. Joe: Retaliation is directed by Jon M. Chu.
In the sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. Bullshit. They're afraid of getting slaughtered. And June didn't seem right anyways. The film should've opened in March. It's a shame. I was actually looking forward to this. _________________My DVD Collection

Also, the conversion may take three months but they're not going to release it on November or December. November already has Bond and December is crowded.

Re: G.I. Joe: Retaliation Delayed Until 2013 It's such a strange move. They had begun an aggressive TV spot campaign and just released a new trailer to fairly considerable nerd-community fanfare. There was absolutely no indication such a move was coming. Films such as Jack the Giant Killer and Gravity were fairly quiet before their big moves. This seemed completely ready to launch.

June isn't that full, especially for men, Independence Day right around the corner, now it's in a less high profile spot in a busy fucking march already. It sounds to me like their not confident, something isn't going well, and they're kind of dumping it. Plus this is a way late move, obviously. I can't believe they waited till almost a month before to decide this.
