EDIT: I changed X3 to a zero. For me, a 0 movie really has to be something special and after putting more thought into it I find X3 to be truly awful on every level, and even worse when compared to the first two. I hate that movie.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (X-Men, The Mummy!)
I'm genuinely curious -- if X-Men's an 8, and X-Men 3's a 9, what exactly does X2 do so differently to be worthy of a 1?

X1 and X3 both told involving complete stories - - they weren't endlessly jumping around between fifty minor characters' dramatic snippets like the interminable X2...

X3 told an involving and complete story? There are many words to describe X3, but "involving" and "complete" aren't two of them.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (X-Men, The Mummy!)
First off, I don't go back to my reviews and transcribe my grade to this thread, I base my rating here on my current impression of the series as a whole and grade the films relative to each other. And secondly - - have I taught you nothing about the Patented Bradley Witherberry Grading System® (PBWGS) after all these years?!? It is calculated on what I call the "Triple Eye System" - - an idiosyncratic, inflationary, and impressionistic basis. I gave a more complete explanation in the review thread for the classic comedy film Beerfest... Bradley Witherberry wrote: Zingaling wrote: 5 out of 5 is not even that good when you think about it. He's given an 11 out of 5, I think, so 5 out of 5 would be the equivalent of a C or C-, even though he's usually enthusiastic about it. Remember, 11 out of 5 was the grade I gave 2001: A Space Odyssey, which sits at the very peak of my lifetime top ten list... Though I hardly find it necessary to explain my advanced grading system to those who cannot appreciate it, I will deign to attempt to briefly communicate it's essence to you primary graders. 5 out of 5 is not equivalent to a C, it is just the start of my expanded A scale, instead, my lower numbers are fairly equivalent to your common grading systems: 1 out of 5 = F 2 out of 5 = D 3 out of 5 = C 4 out of 5 = B 5 out of 5 = A 6 out of 5 and up are increasing degrees of what you would call an "A+" - I love having some range to express my enjoyment of movies that I find particularly outstanding (...and how many times have I seen people here rate movies "A+++++", etc. - let ye who are without sin cast the first stone...). So, anyone who can't handle the Patented Bradley Witherberry Grading System (PBWGS), please remain incarcerated in your ABCDF prison - your words only inspire pity in me...
