Originally it was scheduled in 2005 and was pushed back to 2006 because David Duchovney wanted more money. Just few months ago David Duchovney said X-Files 2 will be made but Chris Carter said its unlikely it will be made anytime soon. Im guessing we may not see an X-files 2 since both of them are bickering at each other it seems. I really would love to see one because of my X-files withdraw. The series could have a potential to be the next Star Trek movie and X-files 2 could make more than X-files-the movie since its off the air for awhile now. Anyone else anticipating the movie at all?The lack of any good sci-fi shows makes me want to see the movie even more.

What are Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish doing, anyway? Or Mitch Pileggio? Seriously, if they really wanted to, these three could have made an X-Files movie series, and I think it would have been good. Sadly, a lot of X-philes would never agree, which is too bad. I would love to see Gillian and David back on board and even do a few movies, but it never seems to advance anymore than "well, we're hoping to get things going soon".

I used to be a big fan of the show, at this point I really think they should leave well enough alone.

Hey, I actually thought that Robert and Annabeth should have continued the show, too. The later episodes like Hellbound, John Doe, Scary Monsters, and Redrum were awesome.

I lost interest in the show before Duchovny left, the nail was in the coffin in the show before Gish and patrick got there.

I don't know why Duchovney doesn't sign up. It's not like he's had a successful post-X-files career. Maybe he thinks House of D is going to start his comeback.

I hope this doesn't happen and if it does I hope it bombs and opens in September or January.

X-Files was the best sci-fi show since Next Generation. I read in an interview that they would be moving away from the alien mythos and make a more straight forward horror/sci-fi monster movie.

I'm there.

Holy shit. That would own on so many levels. I always loved the "monster of the week" epsiodes more than the plot development episodes. I'm sorry, but I find alien shenanigans boring as all hell.

The series finale ended with them saying the invasion starts in 2010. I sure hope it doesnt take them that long to get production starting for the movie

A straight up monster movie would RULE. The only episode I REALLLY remember was that one, Darkness Falls I think, with the things in the woods....

I love The X-FILES and love the show so much that you'd think I'd be having this difficult of a time in deciding whether I wanted to purchase the Season's on DVD Box Set, but not what FOX wants for each season.. Christ, FOX wants 99.00 Dollars for each season.. Knock it down about 30 bucks and you got a deal.... I loved the movie and loved the whole Alien Abduction storyline, but Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish were the Mulder/Scully Wannabes that killed the show.. An X-FILES II standalone Monster movie would be kick ass, maybe one surrounding a murderous Bigfoot type of creature slaughtering towns people.. :-k An R-Rated X-FILES movie complete with Graphic Violence, Nudity, Profanity..... =D>

I would love to see a second X-Files film.

I think Gillian said that she would do it. She's working and living in London, England now. She's starring in independent films and theater, so that's what she has been doing since the show ended. loyalfromlondon, to answer your query, Gillian grew up in London and reverts back to her 'English' accent when there.

The Scully look is gone, too.

Fully agree. Daft attitude, to wish somebody bad you never ever met in your live, for some dumb ass reasons (not liking his face or something)...
