Who was/is/will be the better director?

This is the most important question of all-time: the answer can decide if mankind should still exist or not. Everyone should choose his answer with the wisdom of a gracious and brillant king.

The answer is obvious

You should have put Paul Thomas Anderson, instead of W.S.

Only fools would have said PTA, but you would have gotten a lot more fools to take the bait.

Paul W.S. Anderson of course ;) Death Race was awesome!

That would have been half-baked. It had to be no less a figure than the Hitler among """""film"""""makers.
It's an important Paul W.S. experiment that will either lead to normalcy, nothing worthy of mention - or to imminent death of mankind. And at KJ, the latter is not as impossible as it may seem. Every misguided vote, every grotesque comment is a step closer to humorous extinction.

You're playing with fire, and KJ is a fucking tar pit. We're gonna get burned.

Ah, 2 votes for Paul W.S.! That's already worse than 6 for PTA, plus Aids for 10 users.

What if I pine for the death of mankind yet refuse to acknowledge WS with the title of "director". His title is more like "employee" than "director".

Decisions, decisions.

You did the right thing, roo.

Mankind will die soon enough some other way, if not this one.

I voted for Bergman because of Wild Strawberries, Virgin Spring, Darkly, etc. etc.... and Saraband, which was actually a great way to end a career... etc. etc. etc.

But I want to make a note that if we were talking The Magic Flute vs. Death Race, I would choose Death Race any day. And I haven't even seen Death Race. That is how much I loathe Flute.

No matter what people call him or see him as - he has 3 votes. That's 3 million additional jews.

And there's a lot more where that came from. I'm growing increasingly concerned.

Is Boll Stalin? Or something worse?

I have a theory that Boll could produce a masterpiece and his entire identity is framed around a greater joke that only he and a few of his financiers are in on.

At least that is what I try to tell myself at night to make the demons go away.

Author:  Johnny Dollar [ Mon Dec 22, 2008 1:12 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Directoral Battle

Boll isn't as bad because he doesn't get studio money and no one seems to actually like his movies.

The W.S. business is far more disturbing. Money AND fans!

Can't you see this is an emergency?!? This is not the time for your pithy brand of irony.

That, and Boll is just playing a prank. Paul W.S. on the other hand seems to be serious, which is frightening.

Guybrush, yoshue... unrelated question.

Which is the best of the BRD Trilogy, I need a film to watch tonight and all 3 are available immediately to me via Netflix.

Something good came from this nightmarish thread! It's like how WW2 provided unparalleled economic security in the US.

I actually switched to Kubrick's Paths of Glory, which I (oddly) haven't yet seen. The subtitles were supremely fucked up on the Fassbinder films through the Netflix/Xbox service. I think they used the non-Criterion versions. It's not worth it, I'll just rent them physically.
