Post subject: | The KJ snob/elitist club |
I henceforth call forth here forth the first meeting of the KJ snob/elitist club. This first meeting of the Only Club That Matters* will be built around establishing a list of members and a set of guidelines. My goal for this club is to eventually overtake the entity that is known as World of KJ, and send it into a downward (upward?) spiral of Andrei Tarkvosky marathons and lots of clove cigarettes. Myself and my co-chairman (who wants to be my co-chairman?) will select the members based on a strict set of criteria. That criteria will be set forth by myself (and my as yet unnamed, wholly imaginary co-chairman), and it will arbitrarily change on a whim, based entirely on how much I've had to drink and whether I'm currently in a "You know, the French new-wave might not be so bad" mood. I will begin this inaugural meeting of the Only Club That Matters* by asking any prospective applicants to submit the following: your current top ten list for the calendar year 2008, your top five favorite directors, and five of your favorite movies of all time. I'm also asking that, upon acceptance into the Only Club That Matters*, you change your avatar/signature to something involving a ridiculously pretentious and/or difficult film, preferably something made by Hiroshi Teshigahara. Note: an impressive (and easily verifiable) list of Criterion Collection DVDs currently in your possession will grant an automatic entry into the Only Club That Matters*. *TM pending List of Members: Makeshift (Chairman) trixster (Co-Chairman) Argos loyalfromlondon (Secretary of State) Jon Gulli snack yoshue JURiNG kypade (The Duke) Price junio GuybrushX McMurphy Joseba B-Loki The Pit of Rejected Applicants The Dark Shape Leader of the Pack BJ Munkyfromlondon Libs DIB2 Corpse Skyblade thompsoncory matatonio be.redy Floydboy Omni The Hall of Shame Shack |

problem is that a lot of the posters who belong in this club consider themselves above, among many other things, joining clubs. |

I raise your request for a pretentious film director sir and present the new wave... I call it arty paintings of asian women. In salute of this thread I present David Lynch: Panties in my mouth - The remix |

I don't think I can be part of this club. |

So i'm confused... From my understanding of other people's understandings of my taste in movies i have terrible taste in film. Does that make me the perfect candidate or most imperfect candidate for this club? |

This is going swimmingly. I'll review the already submitted applications and begin to comprise a list of members on the first post. trixster is here forth henceforth named forth the co-chairman of The Only Club That Matters*, so I will be asking him to review the applications as well. Just to give you an idea of a couple of things I'm looking at doing with this: A 2008 movie awards show, presented and awarded by us A 2008 top ten, complied by the members And other stuff that will be fucking awesome and junk. *TM Pending |

Either it's a joke or they actually are the only movies you've seen this year. If it's the latter, this is a double-edged sword. On one hand, I would encourage members of this club to seek out as many films in a given Calendar year as is financially and theoretically possible. On the other hand, it might showcase one of the all-time great snob/elitist traits, and that is a total lack of desire to see the majority of films released to a significant amount of theaters. If it's a joke, your biting sarcasm and clear disdain for humanity will be taken into consideration, and is not necessarily a negative. Your top-fives are of the utmost quality and respectability. I'm tempted to award you membership based exclusively on these, but I will allow my co-chairman to chime in with his review of your application before proceeding any further. You will hopefully hear back from us within 24 hours regarding a final decision. Thank you for your time. |
