So on Thursday, the Company I work for had there Belated Holiday Party and they had a prize giveaway and I won the movie "COLLATERAL" along with a 25 Dollar Gift Certificate to a fine restaurant and a Blockbsuter Gift Card.. I went to Blockbuster yesterday and saw both The GRUDGE and a film next to it called "JU-ON" which looked a little like the same... Has anyone seen JU-ON and if so, is it better or scarier than The GRUDGE??? I thought The GRUDGE was simply Ok and wished it were alot scarier, but some of the images were creepy I'll say, just not enough.. |

The Grudge re-used a lot of the scares in Ju-On, so you won't find Ju-On scary. I think the remake was better, simply because it was more stable and together, while the original was all over the map and had way more characters. I was actually more confused watching Ju-On than I have been while watching a Quentin Tarantino movie, so that's saying something.. |

Well, I just popped JU-ON in the DVD Player, watched about 15 minutes of this shit and turned it off... I just found it to be boring and bland, then turned on The RING and thought that sucked to.. I just don't get it and how people find this to be scary cause it isn't.. Horror movies of today suck compared to the horror movies of the Past.. That much is certain.. |

The Grudge was good. I know lately i have been slagging it, but it was very good film. Japanese films are good, not sure about horror, but i dont think they could top the US version. |

the ring was one of the least scary movies i have ever seen. i almost fell asleep through it. i still have no idea how people find this movie to be so scary. i think it's a complete borefest. |

They both sucked. Ju-On was a lot worse, since it has even more sub-stories. I hate non-linear storytelling. |

Ju-On was a complete mess. I rented it post-Grudge to see the difference and i watched the first half but it was so amazingly dull that i turned it off. There were far too many characters, everything was far to well-lit for a scary movie, crappy actors, and many other negative comments. I liked The Grudge. I don't see what some people find so awful about it, i don't get scared but i did find it scary in the creepy way. The friends i saw it with on the other hand found it VERY scary. They were freaking out a whole lot which provided me with some humor. |

THE GRUDGE was a terrifying and hugely original [despite the ghoulies similarities to Samara] horror film that introduced a foreign place as really a tool in horror. JU ON however was far from scary, poorly crafted and a bit of a mess. |

I liked them both, but I have to say that Ju-On: The Grudge scared me more than The Grudge did. Ju-On:The Curse was much scarier than both of them. |

Ju-On:The Grudge is the film remake of a television movie called Ju-On:The Curse. The Curse was a huge hit and they decided to make a commercial film version, which they did change slightly and they wimped out and changed the story a little bit. It is non-linear, of course, and some people don't like that, but I enjoyed them all. |

That movie had a blend of everything going for it and didn't bore me one moment and HEAT had the best gunfight in the streets of L.A in cinematic history.. |

I actually found them to be equally awful (D+). Both were low on scares, low on character (the lead in the film, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Grudge, is truly one of the most horribly written characters in any horror film), and non-existant on story. As I said before, both films basically add up to nothing more than a series of people being killed by a black, floating, meowing, weird throat sounding thingy, though in the American version they attempt to tie it together in about 15 seconds with this ridiculous 'she was obsessed with him!' business. I'll give Ju-on credit for originality (the bed scene is good) and The Grudge credit for its sleekness, but other than that, nada. |

for me the grudge is better, maybe because of Sarah Michelle Gellar is in it. |
