Possible hint at the Spider-Man 4 villain
"Whlie SPIDER-MAN 4 is still a ways away, the debate over who should be the villain(s) in that film still rages hot. Up until now, smart money was on Lizard whose Curt Connors has been making appearances in previous films (and with the Venom installment of the SPIDER-MAN trilogy having the worst reviews of the bunch, you can bet Raimi will return to Golden Age villains). But Raimi spoke to Empire Magazine and his comments might surprise you. Says Raimi of which villain he thinks is "really cool":
I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius... A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.
Hmm it definitely is an interesting spin on things to see Spider-Man fighting a villain. Sadly I always felt that the Morbius arcs in the comics were always a little disappointing. For those in the dark, Dr. Michael Morbius was diagnosed with a fatal blood condition. Desperately trying to keep himself alive, he used a serum he concocted party of bat blood. This, combined with electroshock treatments, transformed him into some kind of man/vampire/bat hybrid. Perhaps not coincidentally, the origin of Morbius in the comics is very closely entwined with...Lizard. "http://joblo.com/raimi-wants-morbius______________________________________________________________________________ Hmm. I like Morbius...but in a Spider-Man flick? I dunno...

Hmmm, wasn't he part of the gang in the Maximum Carnage comic book series?

Mysterio dammit. He's EASILY the most cinema/big SFX blockbuster friendly villain in the rogue gallery, they can't go 4 films without going for him

Please let this franchise die.
Raimi prostituting himself like this is depressing.

Re: Possible hint at the Spider-Man 4 villain
i don't know anything about this villain besides what he looks like, but judging from that, he probably isn't the best pick for a franchise that needs to win back viewers, instead of leaving them laughing at the trailer. Again, I don't know which remaining Spider-man villains would be really cool as a film version, but I don't think this is the one.

Personally I go with a combo of the Lizard and Electro.

Rorshach is right... Electro is one of the bigger rogues.

After you have a lot of average villains like Mysterio, Scorpion, the Vulture, etc. from what I've seen of Mysterio and Vulture in the Spider-man video games, just like with this vampire guy, I think it would be very hard not to make them laughable villains. However, Green Goblin looked lame as hell, too, but Willam Dafoe gave a really strong performance to overcome that.

I like the Lizard/Electro combo too.
I guess they thought with Twighlight's success, Vamps are in.
