Post What's so bad about Catwoman???
I just watched it for the first time yesterday and I thought is was quite an enjoyable film. So I ask everyone who disliked it what made the film bad BESIDES the costume. I thought the costume was unique.

The costume was probably the best part...

Where do I start? The story, the action scenes, the acting, the villian...

I went to rent it at Blockbuster just to see if it was really as bad as I have heard or if it was as bad as Elektra, but they didn't have it, so I got Cellular and Troy instead. Hot men with muscles in leather... WHEE!!!

I had a rather good post saved... till someone deleted that thread. Anyway, where do I start? This movie is too hokey to be serious, and when it tries to be funny, it just falls flat. It tends to be a bit dark at times (but in a campy way, mostly) so the humor only seems out of place. The seriousness is constantly overshadowed by bad action. It's not fun to see. I usually can tolerate the same ol', same ol' action scenes, but after a while, I feel it's just the same thing over and over again. And the costume... where do we begin? A heroine should be naturally sexy, with a nice teasing costume, without her breasts three-quarters of the way exposed, and a fully exposed stomach, barely concealed in a costume that looks like a cat destroyed it and it's all she has left of it. Now, before you go tap away furiously at your keyboards calling me a hypocrite for liking Jennifer Garner, I KNOW! I know that both Elektra and Alias shows her off in a more sexual way, but dammit, she's naturally sexy. I think the Elektra costume is a BIT over the standards that I mentioned that heroines should meet, but something like that would have been better for Catwoman. It would have been very more appealing. What it showed me was they didn't have a good movie, so they wanted people to watch to see Halle Berry almost naked, even if she has appeared nude several times now.

The plot is wacky. I believe it had to do with plastic surgery. Did Sharon Stone remain unable to feel pain in some parts of her or something because of it? I think that's what the goofball plot was. It's stupid. The writing is corny. It's campy, but not good campy. Definitely bad campy. The only part that worked was when she was reborn with feline abilities, but it just went sour fast... like sour milk! Sour milk any cat would never touch. I haven't seen Elektra yet, so perhaps some of the same problems plague Elektra, I don't know. All I know is the costume is a lot sexier and less revealing. Not the PERFECT costume, but less revealing than this silly costume that Catwoman paraded around in. This was just slutty. Sure, if Halle Berry is a high-quality prostitute-cum-superheroine, then it's all well and good. But it just doesn't make sense why she wanted to look so revealing.

Funnily enough Spiderman2005, i watched it again tonight, and it wasnt too good second time round, first time i gave it an 'A' rating, but now i'd give it a 'B-', it was still very good and enjoyable, but it was also embarrassing, for me, and the viewer shouldnt get embarrassed whenwatching a film.

But i still love it and i love Halle Berry also. Btw its OUT of my top 100 now (because of the decrease in grade) and Fight Club will take its place

What's wrong with Catwoman? In one word? Everything!

The costume is ridiculous to start with, the acting is bizarre at best and Pitof is maybe the most untalented director ever. His Vidocq was already a shame but this one is even worse. It doesn't play like a movie but a collage of MTV videos one after another. The basketball scene was the worst scene I have seen in years. And what about these ridiculous visual effects? Those endless cgi camera moves through the skycrapers of Lake City were so annoying. And there is not one well made action scene in it. What a catastrophy (pun intended)

I have really no desire to see this tripe, but what if Michelle Pfeiffer were in the title role over Halle Berry?? Do you think the movie would've been more enjoyable or what?? :-k She was the best part of BATMAN RETURNS while the rest of the movie was in the beginning stages of Jumping the Shark for the franchise with BATMAN FOREVER and BATMAN AND ROBIN Fulfilling that Prophecy..

I don't think it wouldn't have made that big a difference. There's just too much wrong with this picture to be fixed by an actress change.

Michelle Pfiefer was good, but Halle Berry has ssex appeal, which is why she is Catwoman and not Michelle.

It would've made a BIG difference. For starters, Michelle Pfeiffer wouldn't have agreed to THAT costume. She'd know that it would look ridiculous on her, and, plus, she wouldn't want to reveal that much skin. And, the costume had a LOT to do with how bad the film was.

I think its more of a "like catwoman" or "dislike catwoman" sorta thing, rather than not seeing it because of a damn costume.

If the costume's awfully laughable...well...you'll be too busy laughing or sighing in disgust to revel in the POWER of Pitof!

I admit I never ended up seeing it. I have promised myself to watch it one day.

Where do I begin ... Why didn't I watch this?

- The costume
- The pretentious promotion (Halle's way of promotion of this movie was pathetic .. turned me off)
- The fact that what WAS on screen wasn't even catwoman (If someone wants to know who catwoman is, PM me)
- The fact that it ripped off other superhero elements to win us over
- A director with only one name : )
- The fact that it just didn't look appealing.

For someone whos a batman fan, anything related to batman that is sort of insulting to it is not worth my time.

You aren't a Batman fan until you've seen the 1960s original...

Maybe you should start using your head. People who say that you should watch something and then comment on it are very naive. There is a reason why people have the ability to deduce things. You watch previews and such and figure out what you probably want to see or not. I did not wish to see crapwoman because of many reasons i stated above, each one being fact and not fiction. I did not comment on the costume based upon a description, i based it on actually seeing it. same thign with other superhero rip offs, a complete bastardization of the character itself and honestly, a very unimpressive build up. If i was to make a judgement after seeing things all the time (and that applies to all), we'd all be dishing out quite a bit of money.

All im saying is, you never know you may like it, even if you do cringe or laugh whilst watching it.

After I found a suitable disguise, I bought the Catwoman DVD, but I haven't sunk low enough to watch it.

My lack of desire to see it comes down 95% to the costume and 5% Halle Berry. Personally I find Berry to be a dreadful actress, and think she is vastly overrated.

As for the costume, it is without a doubt the single worst costume I have seen in a big budget superhero movie since the purple leotard Billy Zane donned in the Phantom (even that was better). The old adage of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" surely applies here. The classic catwoman catsuit works, it's sexy without being overtly so and it fits the character. The torn leather biker look with Mickey Mouse ears in the new Catwoman is downright hideous.

But, I'll still watch it as I have this perverse desire to buy and watch really bad movies from time to time, which explains my Gigli, Battlefield Earth, and From Justin To Kelly DVDs.

Well, i mean you dont go to see your super hero[ine] kick the ass of a .....head of a cosmetics company for making evil bad makeup, after of course Halle Berry gets off with a cat, when shes dead. The concept for one was so ridiculous that only the bravest of the age group would be seen dead watching it.

Im NOT kidding you when i say this, but i saw the exact same storyline in a 2d animation show called "Mary Kate & Ashley IN ACTION" a kiddies show starring the annoying Olsen twins quite a few years ago now i think.

But the costume was ridiculous, no-one can beat Michelle Pfieffer and yes Halle Berry can be quite carboard, she was the weakest link in the X-men films, and in Die Another Day she was sex appeal only, that said i AM a fan of Halle and found her quite watchable in the otherwise not watchable Gothika [which was another big dissapointment - it could have went all fantasy cool but ended up not so cool]

And to those who are on the whole " I want to see this film although everyone ever said it sucked" please listen to those people, i regretted Gigli immensely.
