Quote: 9 is an upcoming 2008 animated film. The film is directed by Shane Acker, produced by Tim Burton and stars Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, John C. Reilly, Christopher Plummer, and Martin Landau. The film is slated for a December 26, 2008 release. It is being animated in Luxembourg by Attitude Studio and will be released by Focus Features. Quote: 9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A community of fully mobile rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Wood), displaying leadership qualities that may help them to survive. The conflicted but resilient community includes 1 (Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Connelly), a brave warrior. As in the original short, 5 may only have one eye. --Wiki Sounds very, very cool. |

They forgot to mention that this is based on the Academy Award nominated short of the same name. |

I am going to assume the porn moaning wasn't part of the actual short. That was pretty cool, though. |

very interesting video and certainly boosts my interest. However, the film could go either way for me. be simply brilliant or utter disappointment. |

Tim Burton isn't directing 9, just producing. I really like the short movie the guy made, so it's good he is the one making the full movie. My 2nd most anticipated movie of the year. And I just heard about it yesterday. |

has there been any new news on this? I met someone who worked on this at UCLA and I think it is going to be interesting to see how they stretch the film to a full length one. |

Seems like a really cool premise. I might wait for the reviews however before I make a final call. Burton does have a good history with animation. |

The same guy who directed the Academy Award Nominee short is also directing the film, and Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House) is one of the writers along with Shane Acker, the director . It'll be CGI, but resemble stop motion. And there are suppose to be test screenings taking place in LA. |

NO WAY. A number of years ago, I went to a UCLA film camp, and I saw this just when the guy had finished making it (Shane Acker, I believe, was this person). Like I was actually part of what could've been the first major audience (20 people) this thing had. I had no idea it went on to win an Oscar, but I do remember hearing later that Burton had seen the thing and wanted this guy as a part of his crew. Now it's gonna be an actual movie. That's awesome! |

Just watched it. Looks amazing. Coraline looks amazing, 9 looks amazing, Up is Pixar, and Ponyo will be amazing. Looks like a very, very good year for animated films in 2009. |
