Mel Gibson isnt really kidding when he told Jim Caviziel that if he accepted the role of Jesus he would never work in hollywood. Movies like Highwaymen,I am David, and Bobby Jones were made before Passion was ever released. His database has nothing lined up for him at all and normally its not normal at all for someone not to have anything lined in production for close to a year. I know Im liberal at most times but if its true that he would never find work again, its very hyprocritical of hollywood to blacklist a guy like that The guy was doing fine with Thin Red Line,Count of Monte Crisco and Frequency. His work just suddenly stopped |

I don't think it's blacklisting so much as it is him being seen as Jesus and Jesus only. Normally, when actors get a huge role playing a character of extreme importance like that, it's hard to break the image. He should take a year or two off and come back with a completely different role that shows of his acting chops. |

Hey, atleast he's in one of the highest grossing movies ever. A big part of it, too. |

No. He will not be type cast for this. He will deffinatly be able to grab more roles, and I think it is smart of him not to just take whatever he can get. Wait for the right role, and he will be fine. |

Im sure Jim probably got paid less than $500,000 to take on the role. I guess he really got the bitterend of the deal while Mel comes off as filthy rich. Poor guy's going to end up like born-again christian Chris Odonnell who hasnt been seen in anything lately |

He wasn't a huge star with huge big movies he was known in before Passion of the Christ, and it failed to make Cavaziel a big star after it. It would be one thing if he had a stellar career before Passion but honestly, with the small bump of Frequency, there wasn't much there he that he carried. He could be doing personal stuff at the moment, he could be taking a break. Quote: Mel Gibson isnt really kidding when he told Jim Caviziel that if he accepted the role of Jesus he would never work in hollywood. Mel Gibson was just playing partisan, as he did the entire time before The Passion of the Christ hit, stirring up shit to polarize the audience so it became a "must see" event then blaming it all on Hollywood and the Jews. He was on the O'Reiliey factor complaining MONTHS before any Passion controversy hit. There is no proof that there is any blacklist of Cavaziel, show me the proof and I will be outraged. |

I agree 100%. If you check out his IMDB page, you can see that he has been in a few movies every year, none of which (except Passion) are huge Box Office successes. The two films he did past Passion were Bobby Jones and Rebels, both flops. |

Im not sure about Rebels but I think its just a made for cable movie judging from the director's resume. Like I said, he had steady work with Thin Red Line, Frequency and Count of Monte Crisco. It looks like he hasnt had anything in production for a year now. Heck hes the only guy who campaigned to get the Superman role and didnt get it while other actors like Josh Harnett and Jude Law turned down the role. Since he was trying to grab the Superman role, it doesnt look like he was trying to take a break at all |

Oh, and that Cock and Bull movie which comes out next year, about a woman (Sarah Polly) who is married to Chris O'Donnell and grows a fully functioning penis. So much for Christianity! |

The Count of Monte Christo was an excellent, if small-budget, film in which Caviezel played an powerful lead. |

There's a most dreaded curse against all those actors foolish enough to play that one-and-only King of Kings, Son of God and Saviour of Mankind, none other than Jesus H. Christ Himself. After all, look what happened to Jeffrey Hunter. (And he coulda had his own starship!) |

Willem Dafoe did okay after The Last Temptation of Christ. But then that film was hardly popular among Christians, plus Dafoe chose his subsequent roles wisely, nabbing quirky supporting parts in films by maverick auteurs like Oliver Stone, David Lynch and John Waters. The answer's probably for Caviezel to drop the leading man part of his resumé (at least for the time being), and get himself cast as far against type as possible. He needs to play a lecherous, bigoted alcoholic with a fetish for 12 year old boys underpants in a film directed by David Cronenberg. Or Michael Winner!! |

Victor Salva or Roman Polanksi can be up for directing instead |

Oh come now, Willem Dafoe wasn't exactly well known for playing heroes before he took on the part of Jesus. The guy was born to play villains! For one, he looks like a gargoyle, and for two, his name is Willem Dafoe! If his name was Willem Dagoodguy, then maybe you'd have something. As it is, he should consider himself lucky he's had the chance to play a few good guys in his career (Mississippi Burning, Body of Evidence, Clear and Present Danger, American Psycho). As for the others, well they've all had very different careers. Some more successful than others. But I'd hardly say they were confined to playing bad guys. Max Von Sydow played Father Merrin in the Exorcist post Jesus. Chris Sarandon was a heroic detective in - a personal childhood favourite - Child's Play. |
