http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=20877 Quote: While the man with the hat is back, this time he's not bringing his Dad. Sean Connery, who retired from acting in 2005, said: "I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun. I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, 'Break a leg, everyone.' I'll see you on May 22, 2008 at the theater!" Looks like no Sean Connery |

I think that's a good thing, actually. Now, I loved him in Crusade and he was an integral part of the film. But obviously his character was completely unnecessary to this story, since his role was on/off the whole time. If it can be cut out, then cut it. All previous Indy movies have been streamlined without unnecessary bloat. I would like to Indy4 stay that way as well. |

I wasn't really a fan of his character IMO. Sure I love Sean Connery however this is Indiana Jones not Indiana Jones dad. It would've been more devsating to learn that Harrison wasn't coming back to fell the role. |

I would have liked to have seen him in a cameo, but not as Indy's partner as he was in film 3. |

So I guess Connery is really done. LXG will be his final film in 2003, and apparently he's not in the best of health anymore as well. So first Hackman, now Connery. how long before Eastwood. That being said, Connery was great, and if it was a few years earlier it probably would have been a different story, but all in all, there story did end perfectly with Last Crusade. |

The THing is though that his dad will be in the film but it will be played by John Hurt instead. |

I wonder if he's playing the villain. One thing about Indy is he never fights the main badee, it would never be a challenge. Except in Temple. I like Hurt, thought he was very good in V for Vendetta and all his stuff, and it almost makes sense if Ray Winstone is a villain too. Though, thinking back I would have loved William Hurt as a villain |

I thought Newman retired after Road to Perdition already (except for viocework)... Too bad and really sad. It would have been a really fitting ending to the career of Connery, unlike, say, LXG! Just like Hackman's farewell film too... Hopefully Nicholson and Freeman won't retire too soon. Their next movie seems like a fitting retirement film, heh. |

Despite Mr. Connery having such an illustrious career throughout the decades, it's a shame his last movie was LXG and the worst cause that movie sucked balls and makes me wonder if he knew what he was getting into before making that movie and it was simply too late when he signed on to do that??? Boy, how cool would it have been to see Sean Connery play 007's father in the next JAMES BOND movie??? Now that's the way to go out folks, not LXG.. |

I didn't even know Hackman officially retired. Welcome to Mooseport is even a worse way to bow out than LXG, hehe. |

It sucks about Connery, first no John Rhys-Davies and now no Connery. I don't have much faith in this film. |

Damn I didnt know about Hackman either. One of my all time favourite actors. He had a good run this decade though. And Newman - what a shame but the guy is fairly old. He was still racing cars till a couple of years back though. A true Hollywood legend. Road to Perdition was a good film to bow out on though. Lecter - you brought my attention to The Bucket List which I didnt know about. Sounds great. But dont worry Freeman has 7 films in production for release in the next two years. |

It's a shame Connery couldn't have ended his career on a higher note instead of ending on The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but I actually don't mind that he's not in the fourth one. A cameo would've been nice, but I think another adventure with his dad would've seemed forced. |
