Rumor via HSX that Levitt is Sony's choice to replace Tobey Maguire for SM 4. Hell yeah!

He's a much better and more dynamic actor, as anyone who saw The Lookout or Brick can attest. He should have been Spider-Man from the beginning.

He'd be a better choice to replace Harry, though I think he's going to die anyways.

Not very pleased with Tobey not sticking around, this isn't the Batman franchise, and I think Gordon-Levitt is potentially too good and too promising to succumb to this role, but hey, who knows.

If they do go with a new actor, I kind of hope that after the first 3, they take the franchise in a new direction. Maybe more darker, but mostly, I'd like to see Spidey as an adult... Enough with the whiney teenager antics.

HSX is practically the least reliable source on the internet for rumors, though.

be a solid choice. He seems to be a very well rounded actor.

He wouldn't take it even if it was offered to him.

Hopefully, for the sake of everyone involved.

I can't believe the kid from Angels In the Outfield and 3rd Rock From the Sun is becoming some sort of well-known actor.

I'm not the only one who loves this film, am I? Although I always found the last line to be kind of creepy.

"Were always watching." Maybe it was just the way Lloyd said it while floating away into space.

I think JGL is sort of hot in a frivolous way.... but he shouldn't (and won't) take this role. He's widely critical of superstars... sort of an iconoclast, if you will.

I'd be very surprised if he took a role like this. He seems like an independent film darling.

Does Maguire still suffer from back issues?

I had to use the word. :shades: It's one of the words that is never used (for a reason)...

the only thing i found cool bout the original is for a little bit, he was in high school.

i dont want to peter parker/spiderman as a gornw up adult married guy. thats superman, or any other hero. he was a lot cooler when he was a teenager. theyve tried to mature it ABIT too much.

I got to agree with others who've suggested that JGL wouldn't take this role. His film choices are opposite big budget blockbusters now and SM seems much to high profile for his liking and the way he has spoken about celebrity culture and fame in general seem to suggest he wouldn't even have this on his radar. That being said, of course I'd see the film if he were in it since most films he has been doing have been solid/very good. I think though that they'll have to settle for a taller pretty boy to replace Tobey. No one comes to mind atm though.

He'd be the biggest douche not to take the role, ofcourse he'll take the role. That would be the biggest pay day he ever got in his life.

He's a solid actor, but this isnt a role for him anyways, it doesnt fit.

I think it would be a HUGE mistake for him to take the role at this stage in his career.

I vote for George Clooney!

After all, it is Spider-Man, not Spider-Boy -- of course, they'd have to make some more mature and logical storylines, more on par with the cartoon series, rather than Raimi's drivel...

I think if the offer of SPIDERMAN/Peter Parker is offered to anyone, it'll be Jake Glyenhaal since both him and Mcguire oddly look alike and Glyenhaal looks older in the face to.. I think after the mega success of this upcoming one, SONY will offer the boatload to Sam Raimi to stay on for at least 1 more movie..

Nice thought BKB. Jake has the kind of look where he can play adult or teen and that makes him seem perfect for a spiderman.

Hasn't George Clooney trashed enough comic book films? (It only takes one...)

and Mysterious Skin! Yeah, very good choice (but he probably won't take it).

Sounds like Tobey and the studio are having a protacted negotiation is all.

I won't do a fourth = show me the money
JGL might work = we already pay you enough, pasty

The next stage is Tobey talking about upcoming possible non spiderman projects which will = oh no you didn't. Then the studio will cave and raise his salary some, but not totally the amount he asked. Tobey will remember he's lucky this is his job and he's not stuck in Iraq and sign on.
