On one hand, Bogdanovich may understand Welles' thinking and intentions better than anyone alive. On the other hand, he needs to find some other coattails to ride. It's embarrassing. Nevertheless, he is doing some good here.

Anyway, I hope this finally sees the light of day. It's been tantalizing me for years.

I really need to see some non-Citizen kane Welles. I think I'm one of the few people here who seriously loves that movie.

As for the story, I love it when a lost film finally sees the light of day, so this is cool.

He's right. Even if it's good, really good, it'll be no Blood Diamond. Welles spent his whole career vainly pursuing such perfection.

In all seriousness, it's a hypothetical masterpiece at this stage. Its legend has been built up anecdotally over the years, bits and pieces have been screened, etc.

I'm longing for a Citizen Kane remake by Michael Bay, starring Paul Walker as Young Kane and Ashton Kutcher as Old Kane and featuring a talking CGI-sledge named Rosebutt.

Besides the already mentioned Touch of Evil, I also like The Third Man and The Stranger.

The Third Man is brilliant, on par with the greatest of films, but it's not a Welles picture. He only has a supporting role. Carol Reed directed.

Still, see it!

And instead of a newspaper, he could run a video game company! And his wife wants to be a rap star...

Maybe the whole thing could be filmed in front of blue and green screens. Sets and location shooting are so 2002.

I think he probably just misunderstood Jon's statement as meaning Welles films period. I dun think he was saying The Third Man was directed by him.

And while I also haven't seen anything beyond Citizen Kane and Touch of Evil (though a couple are definitely on the queue), I'm definitely interested in seeing this, so hopefully it gets done.
