 The Black Dahlia Avenger (2008)
New Line has another Black Dahlia film in production based on the novel of the same title by Steve Hodel. I can't believe they'd bother going ahead with it when there already was a big budget film covering the same ground. Maybe they'll scrap the production?
Would it be financially sound for them to produce the film considering the bad luck they've been having?

Considering how little The Black Dahlia had to do with the Black Dahlia murder, I say, why not?

Agreed. The Elizabeth Short murder case is fascinating. There should be a movie about it. Brian De Palma's hilarious melodrama certainly wasn't.

I'd certainly welcome a movie that, you know, focuses on the actual case ala Zodiac rather than the oddities DePalma chose to center on.

I do see your point though. It is a strange financial move, seeing as a movie *promoted* as being about the Black Dahlia flopped despite having an all-star cast and a name director.

Yeah, I think it would be much more difficult to get the public interested in seeing another movie about something they didn't much like the first time around, no matter how good the movie may be.

Most people HATED The Black Dahlia. Even if this ended up being a good one it would definitely have a hard time getting people to see it.
