Post subject:  Favorite Focus Feature

I realize it's practically cliche by now to praise Focus Features, but I think most would agree they've garnered such status for a reason.

No one's perfect, obviously, (they did release The Ice Harvest, right?) but it's fairly safe to assume that whatever they put out is at least "decent".

So what's the best?

This list is taken from the Vault at their site...it's not complete, but it's essentially the ones I've seen plus other major players people seem to like. Feel free to list anything though.

Lost in Translation
Eternal Sushine of the Spotless Mind
Pride and Prejudice
Far From Heaven
Motorcycle Diaries
The Shape of Things
The Man Who Wasn't There
The Constant Gardner
My Summer of Love
Gosford Park
Swimming Pool
Broken Flowers
Brokeback Mountain
21 Grams
The Door in the Floor
The Ice Harvest
---
Brick
Vanity Fair
The Pianist

That list is in general order from my favorites to least favorites, with the three below the line being ones I've not seen. The first 6 I love, the first ten or so I'd consider "good" or better, with the last 5 or so (above line) ranging from "ok" to "you suck."

Any opinions? Anything really good not listed I should seek out? (I'll see the Pianist eventually, and Brick asap (meaning DVD, I'm sure : ())

I thought The Ice Harvest was much better than say... Broken Flowers or Swimming Pool.

I never really loved Far From Heaven. It just didn't click with me.

Haven't seen most of those, but I'd go with 21 Grams.

The Pianist is the best, by a landslide.

Eternal Sunshine comes in second to me.

However, I haven't seen Lost in Translation yet.

Far From Heaven, Far From Heaven! Then Gosford Park.

And three cheers for Wet Hot American Summer, which I just watched yesterday for the first time in a few years. I haven't laughed that hard in ages. I don't remember it being that funny. Not even close.

Until this thread, I had not realized that USA Films had morphed into Focus. No idea.

Weird. I didn't know that either.

But yeah, Wet Hot American Summer is great. One of my favorite comedies of all time.

Can of Vegetables: If you wanna smear mud on your ass, smear mud on your ass, just be honest about it. Look Gene, I've never told anyone this before, but I can suck my own dick, and I do it... a lot.

Caped Boy: Excuse me, ladies. You may remember me as the guy who came to dinner a few weeks ago with underwear on my head. My name is Keith Stat from Millburn, New Jersey. State bird, the mosquito. And as you may have heard I am recently a crowned class B dungeon-master. So if any of you would like to play D&D today, please speak now or forever hold your peace.
[He chuckles, and there is an awkward silence at the table]
Caped Boy: Anyone? Alexa!
[Alexa gives him a withering glare]
Caped Boy: Maybe you would like to join in? We do need a druid, and you have definitely cast a level 5 charm spell on me.
Alexa: In your dreams, douche-bag!
Caped Boy: Douche-bags are hygienic products, I take that as a compliment. Thank you.
[Keith walks off]
Alexa: Ewww!

Lindsay: What 'cha doing?
Andy: Writing in my gournal. I write my thoughts in it every day.
Lindsay: Oh, you mean a journal?
Andy: Yeah, whatever. I guess I'm not all smart like you.

Gail: I hope you like shrimp cocktail, because I want you to be guests of honor at our wedding next week!
Beth: Well, I hope it's not jumbo shrimp because I'm allergic to oxymorons!

Gene: Now finish up them taters, I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.
Gary: Come on - what?
Gene: Finish up the taters.
Gary: And then what did you say?
Gene: And then what did I say?
Gary: You said you were going to... fondle your sweaters.
Gene: Ah, uh - no I didn't. I said fondue cheddar, I was thinking about making fondue with cheddar cheese for dinner tonight.
Gary: No Gene, that is not what you said.
Gene: That is what I said. Fondue cheddar

Gene: Now we need to make 8 gallons of bug juice by snack hour, do you know where the powder packets are?
Gary: Yeah.
Gene: In the pantry, above the sink, right next to my bottle of dick cream. Uh, wait, forget that last part.
Gary: Did you say dick cream?
Gene: No! I said next to my... stick... team, you know stick team! Stickball! Go away leave me alone!

Beth: Well guys, we've made it to the end of the summer in one piece, except for a few campers who are lepers

Andy: You taste like a burger. I don't like you anymore.

Andy: You French great.
Lindsay: You're not so bad yourself, Mr. Man

I haven't seen those.

The only ones I don't like from that list are The Door in the Floor, Vanity Fair, Broken Flowers, and I was never a big Far From Heaven fan.

My favorite would be Eternal Sunshine. Then 21 Grams and Shaun of the Dead.
