Post Indiana Jones IV shouldn't happen
Am I the only one who thinks this?

Spielberg is arguably in his best stretch of films in his entire career, and plopped down in the middle is Indiana Jones IV which is burdened by a star who hasn't been in top form of late.

I have to admit, as much as I love the series, it ended on a high note. I'm not sure if Harry can pull it off again. But still, to see that trailer with that familiar music would make my heart explode, so naaaaaaaa, bring it on.

I completely agree. The whole thing has felt really forced since they first started talking about. I get the feeling that none of them really want to do it, but they feel like there is some sort of obligation there.

It will be like Connery's Never Say Never Again, an embarassing vanity piece that doesn't have much connection to the greatnes of the series.

movie should've come out 5 years ago. :disgust: they should just forget it already.

it may be a bit of a mistake but i'm with baumer. as soon as i hear that music and see that fedora and whip on screen for the first time in almost 2 decades, i'd lose all doubt. i have all the confidence in the world that ford and spielberg can make this work again.

As much as I like the Indy series, Ford was almost too old for it in the late 80s, he was lucky he got away with it then and pulled it off.

I wish he'd make a western instead, can't you just see him as a grizzled tough Sheriff? He's got that look now.

I agree about it seeming like an obligation... I don't sense enthusiasm from anyone involved, which is absolutely necessary for a project of this magnitude....

Well, Im sure you know my opinion. I agree it should have been made by now. But the story is very hush hush right now, and the talent is certainly there, Ford is still in top form though older, so I can't wait.

Yup.

I'm not morally opposed to a new Indiana Jones film... I would actually welcome sort of a "reboot" in a way. I'd rather see Spielberg's Lincoln film.

I don't think I'd like to see anyone's Lincoln film. Is it just me, or does the idea of a film about Lincoln bore the pants off anyone else?

Same here. Which I've been saying too much today so don't be surprised if I extremely disagree with something you say later to balance it out. But yeah Lincoln = snooze fest.

I still can't wait for Indy IV. To me, The Last Crusade and the rest of the trilogy aren't going anywhere, so why not. It'll be a hell of a fun time to see him back on screen again.

I would be snoozing tooif a Lincoln film is shown but then I would suddenly wake up if I hear that one gunshot

Gunshot... cut to black... haunting John Williams score... shot of someone looking at something off screen... lots of atmospheric backlighting... cloying sentimentality... Fin.

I can't wait for the scene where John Wilkes Booth has cathartic, excessively sweaty, slo-mo sex with his wife whilst shots of Lincoln's head being blown off flash across the screen.

You forgot to add that Lincoln stands up after being shot, takes a couple of steps to the next chair, sits down, and then dies

Yeah id like to see another Indy. In the end even if it stinks (which I doubt) - we still have the other three to fall back on.

Has anyone else noticed that Ford and Spielberg both have a Lincoln project in the works. One is the aftermath of the assassination, and one is before. Maybe its a code for Indy 4, then again, maybe Ford and Speilberg should just reunite for a different film, and then do Indy or vice versa.

No.. Your not the only one who feels this and as a matter of fact, is there an Emoticon showing a deadhorse being beaten to death with this movie cause that's what this is: BEATING A DEADHORSE.. The series concluded with the Last Crusade and put closure on it..

I agree. Ford is far too old, and the project doesn't seem any closer to getting off the ground. As much as I love the trilogy, they should just leave it at that, and not ruin it with a fourth installment. And I just can't see IJ4 possibly living up to the first three.
