Well, just to say it right away, I didn't put Jim Carrey into the poll because he was around for quite a long time now. I know, it is borderline on Adam Sandler, but his comedy fame certainly came after Carrey's and I would consider all those who came with him/after him to fall under my "more recent" category. Besides that, Carrey would have sweeped the votes anyway. I must say that I have never been a big fan of Adam Sandler, for one. My pick is between Vince Vaughn and Seann William Scott. Vince Vaughn has starred in two of the funniest movies of recent years, Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers and at least in Wedding Crashers he was certainly the comedic highlight. Scott, on the other hand, created one of the best comedy characters in film history with Stifler. Then again, he hasn't done much impressive stuff after that, so I give the edge to Vaughn. |

Steve Carrell. The Office The 40 Year Old Virgin Upcoming release: Evan Almighty Get Smart Both of them sound like potential hits Im boggled having Sean William Scott in the poll because he only plays the same character over and over again. Hes only really known for playing Stifler thats all, not only that the Stifler character was over 7 years ago yet he hasnt quite broke out of the mold yet. Owen Wilson shouldnt be up there yet either, hes nowhere near as diverse as Vince Vaughan was with comedy movies with Swingers, Old School, Wedding Crashers Dodgeball A better poll would of been Vince Vaughan, Steve Carrell, Jack Black and Will Farrell |

Ben Stiller has made me laugh the most out of anyone on that list. |

I can't stand Ben Stiller when he's not in a costume, so he can't be considered my favorite. I went with Steve Carell, because he's Steve Carell! |

If I could count The Office I'd say Carell but this is about movies isn't it? With movies it's Stiller that made me laugh the most. |

Yes I counted that too. Although even before Theres Something About Mary, he was already headlining movies with Cable Guy and Reality Bites. They werent successful but he had recognition even back then |

Just to be awkward, Ryan Reynolds. I'm also starting to feel some serious, deep, man-love for Paul Rudd. |

I think Paul Rudd, Ryan Reynolds and Kevin James belong more in the other category of names that you will think break out into the comedian list category. They arent up there with the likes of Farrell or Carrell |

It's such a tough question. I'm a huge Adam Sandler fan, and I'd pick him over anybody, but I'm starting to really enjoy Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell and Steve Carell. |

1. Will Ferrell 2. Steve Carell 3. Ben Stiller 4. Vince Vaughn 5. Adam Sandler The only reason why I placed Sandler fifth is because the other four have all worked together, and have made some pretty funny movies over the past five years. Sandler's been a little inconsistent but still funny. |

Jim Carrey is probably my favorite comedy actor, but since he isn't there, I'd have to go with Vince Vaughn. Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers just proved how hysterical he can be and really made my appreciate him as an comedic actor. I'm hoping he keeps it up with The Break Up. Besides him I'd probably pick Ben Stiller next, and then Adam Sandler. I really don't find Steve Carell that funny at all. I hated the 40YOV.. I didn't think he was funny in it at all. |

i voted for Will Ferrell, although i really like Steve Carrell only that he hasnt really carried a movie by himself except for 40YOV of course and i dont see The Office at all. |

You know, honestly, I'm not a big fan of any of these guys (not really a surprise, I'd say). I think each has had his moments in recent films, but I don't think Adam Sandler's been good since SNL (and by SNL I mean the songs). Will Ferrell, too. Ben Stiller had Meet the Parents (yes!), but he also had Meet the Fockers (absolutely not). Jim Carrey had his older stuff, but he also had Fun with Dick and Jane and Bruce Almighty. I've always thought Vince Vaughn was kind of dull and never really understood his appeal, and honestly, did anyone really like Owen Wilson before Wedding Crashers? Liked Carrell in Virgin, and he's awesome in The Office, but does TV count? If so, let me add my own... Jason Bateman! Funnier than any of them on Arrested Development. Paul Rudd's also a good pick. Movies? Maybe not. But he was hilarious in Friends. Though if I had to pick any of those, I'd probably pick Stiller. Somehow Sandler and Farrell yelling and Vaughn rambling = hilarity, but Stiller pretty much restrains himself, for the most part. |

Anna Faris. Most of the people up there are extremely overrated, I do like Steve Carell though. |
