"A recent scooper who wished to remain anonymous recently informed us of quite possibly the best self-referential film this side of BEING JOHN MALKOVICH. Apparently, Jean-Claude Van Damme has actually expressed in interest in starring in a French movie where he'll play himself, a failed action star, who's run out of money, presumably squandering it on drugs, booze, women and assorted bling and gadgets, and must go back to his home in Belgium. While there, on a routine trip to the bank, he finds himself caught in the midst of a bank robbery. Hilarity and all kinds of "just do to them what you did in BLOODSPORT!" and "I don't really kill people, I'm just an actor!" will no doubt ensue. Van-Damme on Van-Damme? That's too much Van-Damme for one movie. The idea sounds pretty good though, so if it gets any sort of release here, I'd probably see it. |
