So I went to the movies for the first time since I saw Brokeback Mt last night.

PRICES.

For a ticket [adult] £6.50 = $11.40
For a student = £5.00 = $8.80

I should underline the fact that I am NOT in London.

LONDON ticket price = £9.50 = $16.66
For a CHILD = $13.15

Where I'm at I paid an aditional £5.50 for a medium popcorn and a medium pepsi max. = $9.60

Total price for a student going to the movies = $18.40
Total Price [roughly, estimating a slightly inflated price of food and drink] for an adult going to the movies in London =$30.

$30 TO GO SEE A MOVIE!?

Hi there Mrs piracy, I'm Mr Overchargepeople, I can help drive your business up by 4000% in just one price hike!

Well, the fact aside that UK has ridiculously high ticket prices (I wanted to see Minority Report in London back in 2002, but they charged £10 for the night show at Leicester Square), I'd suggest not getting popcorn and drinks. I don't do that, otherwise I couldn't afford myself so many movie visits each year.

I pay on average around €6 for my tickets, as a student ($7,20). On weekends more, on weekdays less.

I feel so lucky to live in the US Midwest. Our Mon-Thu student and matinee (before 6) matinee pricing is $6.50; Fri matinee is before 4pm. Student pricing on weekends is $7.50. (this is at AMC)

And then just the other day, I discovered that AMC is doing what they call A.M.Cinema, where on Wed, Sat, and Sun mornings before noon, all movies are only $4!

I don't ever buy concessions, so I never have to worry about that.

So, I've forgiven AMC for the weekend price hike (though compared to elsewhere, I'm still quite grateful).

If i didn't have a special University pass, I think I wouldn't go as frequent. I pay 9.90AUD (7.75US). While the rest of Australia pays $15 ($12.50US).

the only discounts are on G-rated films and Tuesdays.

the only food I ever bring into the cinema is fast food from KFC or something. I usually stay late at uni so i can catch the late sessions so i can stash my hot food.

But i do indulge in a frozen coke.

But for those wanting to know how much medium pop-corn and coke (no pepsi here) is it's 9.50AUD (7.50US).

Price in Manhattan, where there is no student discount: $10.50 last time I was there, so probably higher now. And you get to see the rats running around the floor.

Price in Miami: $9 for adult, $8.25 for student. $7.50 for a matinee.

The only one I really care about...

Student price here, S-S, $7.00 at AMC, $6.50 at Harkins

But if I wanna go to the REALLY nice theater it's an extra dollar...

Heh... I mainly go to Harkins cause I go buy a souvenire cup in January and it's $1 refills for the rest of the year

Best idea EVER... oh, and you can buy a Harkins shirt and get a free small popcorn all year long if you wear it...

About a mile away from my house (90042):

Highland Theatre

Adult: $6
Child, Senior, Matinee: $4

The theatre above is probably crap as it became a few decades ago.

So I usually choose either of them below:

Edwards Renaissance stadium 14 and Edwards Atlantic Palace 10

Adult: $9.75 (10); $10 (14)
Child, Senior: $6.50
Matinee: $7.50

Depends on the theater you go to.

The one closest to where I live charges $7.50 (about $6.20 in American dollars) for an adult, I think. Matinees around $5.50.

The larger multiplexes are much more expensive though. Something like $10 for a regular adult admission.
