Fine to have Robbie in anything, but yeah Ayer needs to do some soul searching before he makes a film again. I feel, I don't even have such a problem with just his directing, Suicide Squad looked pretty good, it just had no depth and that's mostly due to his writing efforts I think.

So you get Suicide Squad 2 without paying Will Smith? Smartest thing they've done yet.

GCS really depends on who is writing it, and if Robbie has a big producer role, rather than in name only.

I guess I don't understand your question. Obvious monetary gain. Which has shown.

Wait. The first claim to which I replied and understood you were supporting was ... "beating Marvel". Has it really been shown that DC's attempt at changing the course of how we perceive comic book films is beating Marvel in terms of monetary gain? Surely you don't believe that.

You're not making much sense.
Rev said they were doing unique projects to differ from Marvel. You asked to what gain. What other gain would there be than monetary? They're trying to broaden their audience, which in turn leads to more sales across the company.

 Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
I'd disagree with that, MOS and BVS definitely did not reach their potential. Suicide Squad was a huge oqerperformer, but even they had a film that whose sequel will no doubt decrease due to the meh quality.
I honestly have no idea why a company would look at one of the most celebrated and profitable formulas in film history and say "I'm not going to do that" despite being pretty much the same series, only we own different variations of that character.

 Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
This has been said before, but at DC they simply just don't know what they're doing. They've been doing catch-up to Marvel's The Avengers since the beginning and instead of doing their own thing at first, they tried to copy the formula halfheartedly, while then deciding to do things different again, while then still not being sure about what to do. It's fine they do things differently and it could work out great if they put the resources behind it, but it just seems there's too many conflicting decision makers at DC that has made them lose even more ground to Marvel then before.

I wish Warner hadn't released their schedule of movies (coping marvel). Just go back to surprising us

Outside of the Iron Man featuring films, the Marvel formula hasn't been one of the most profitable in film history. It's been fine, just above average.

Outside of the Iron Man featuring films, the Marvel formula hasn't been one of the most profitable in film history. It's been fine, just above average. So you're just going to ignore half of Marvel's movies? Let's ignore Batman movies, and DC hasn't had a good movie since 1981. I think the mere fact that every Iron Man adjusts higher than a movie with both fucking Batman and Superman in it, says a lot. That huge gambles on random characters like Guardians, Dr. Strange and Ant-Man could be as profitable as a JL movie. Making huge leaps to finally start the once impossible feat of studio cooperation, allowing Spider-man and Iron Man together in a film. Outside of TIH, which already had it's baggage before Fiege took over, Marvel is the new standard. And you can't say DC isn't trying to copy it. They are doing it, but horribly cutting corners, and frankly missing the point. Losing Nolan was the biggest mistake of their lives. Intersteller could have been a Green Lantern movie, and Dunkirk could be Wonder Woman. They should have made that their priority if they wanted to try and do a "How Nolan would have done" the DCU and suck badly at it. What Marvel has done is no small feat. Each DCEU film only proves it.

I love how we're talking box office, but then when you exclude the IM films, you bring up quality.
Way to change the subject because you lost.

In the movie business, it's about money. And DC ain't winning that one. Might as well follow Marvel.

So far they're winning if you go by the timeline. If you're comparing BvS to Avengers, you're stupid. If you're comparing BvS to Civil War, you're closer, but still wrong.

 Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
Nah. Suicide Squad is similar to Guardians in advertising, but it had Joker and Harley Quinn, who are among the most popular DC characters. Marvel can turn tier Z characters like Strange and Ant-Man into big hits. If they open Cyborg to $80m then we can talk.
