On The Waterfront and The Sting! Hells Yeah!
Years ago, I think On The Waterfront was one of the first 'classic' films I saw. All love affairs have to begin somehow...

Where does this deep hatred of the great Tim Burton come from?

I think it has massive replay value.

I don't hate Tim Burton. In fact I like/love everything before Mars Attacks. I like, um, nothing made afterwards.

The speech in the courtoom is one of the best speeches in film history. Yeah, I said it.
I'm afraid the only thing truly brilliant to come out of this movie was the documentary Overnight.

Well, touche. I can't argue with hilarious one-liners and badass action scenes.

Last Crusade doesn't have shit on Raiders. I don't see how someone can put Crusade higher, given that it just basically copies the Raiders formula. I love Crusade as much as the next person, but it doesn't hold a candle to Raiders.

Crusade has, to its credit, the great Connery/Ford interplay. So while its funnier, its not as exciting or fresh or romantic. Raiders wins.
Of course, Temple beats 'em both...

Dogs was better than Pulp but i'll forgive you on that one.
Godfather 1 was better than 2. 2 was too slow.

Magnus wrote: FINALLY! I'm at the top 10.
Some hints:
-5 of the films are from the 1990s -3 of the films are fromt he 1970s -2 of the films are from the 1980s -None of the films are from the 2000s
I'll wait until late tonight to do the top 10. The top 10 shouldn't be too surprsiing to most, but no. 1 may be. I doubt anyone will be able to guess it until I reveal what 10-2 are.
Alright, I bet you have the original Star Wars trilogy... the first Godfather... The Matrix... Forrest Gump... Shawshank... not sure what else.

Your list turned pretty darn good down the stretch, I have to say. Only 2 comedies in the top 50 is weak though.
I echo the 7 Trixster mentioned, and I'll throw in Se7en as well for sure.

And oh, he still needs his best comedy of all time. He said in 30 years for WC, so I'm guessing, uh, Life of Brian? I would say Holy Grail, but that was 32 years ago, his original claim was in the past 25, that's a bit too big of a difference for him to mis-judge.

At this point I think Godfather is #1, though Se7en could challenge.

Well he said that #1 would surprise people. So I don't think it's Godfather.
Am I the only one that finds Forrest Gump incredibly overrated? Maybe it's because I'm not American...

I'm thinking
3 - Shawshank
2 - Godfather
1 - Se7en
