Lots of great choices there, dude. Minority Report was cut from my list at the very last second, and I love Jean-Pierre Melville's films.

le cercle rouge is deadpan comedy gold. it would probably make my top 2500.

Minority Report was on my original list too, in the 50s, I just kept bumping it. A great flick, 2003 was a great year for Sir Steven.

Oh, and White is my favorite of the Three Colors films, very closely followed by Blue, and then Red. Each is fantastic in its own way, though.

 We need more explosions here. Stop pandering to the Germans. Paths of Glory has some, but it's really depressing artillery fire. Chinatown's twist ending ruined it for me (the same with Oldboy). Kane is pretty amazing though.

1 match in that last batch. And it's not Kane.

I want my mysterious last words to be, "the other Heinrich Himmler."

i never want to see a film adaptation of "tess" directed by joe wright. really, i thought about this all the time when i watched the polanski film for the first time a few days ago. it would be so bad that i would die trying to watch it.

Do you want to see a version by Michael Winterbottom with lots of Indians?

Because if you do, I have the perfect movie for you.

Lydon is another movie, for me, that just couldn't keep it going all the way through. His rise to power is so much more interesting than his fall. The movie still looks absolutely gorgeous throughout though.

The Birds is really great. I've only seen half of M but remember enjoying it.

I love Barry Lyndon to pieces.

The Birds' first half is a tough sit for me. I don't consider it one of Hitch's more memorable films beyond the cool concept and a few terrific moments of suspense.

Well Magnus' list is terrible so far. I really doubt he enjoys those movies at all. It's pure trying-to-be-seen-as-knowledgeable snobbishness. I wish he'd be honest to himself and list Transformer style movies because he clearly enjoys those more.

^ Either he just enjoys those popcorn films as much as many of people do or the 'transformer style movies' are ranked higher on his list

57. M. :wub2:

That's the second film that Magnus has listed that I thought no one else would mention.

Kurosawa made many enjoyable films, but none are all-time favorites for me.

Ran is my favorite, though.

Ran is the best of the four I've seen and was a close call. Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are really great too, and even Throne Of Blood is solid.
