Re: Rank the 2010s Best Picture winners
BIRDMAN is the only one I really cherish. The Kings Speech and Argo would be next, films that I admired while viewing but almost immediately forgot. Have not seen The Artist or 12 Years a Slave (nor do I feel inclined to seek them out).
Much cooler if it'd been:
2014 - Birdman / Boyhood / The Grand Budapest Hotel (3 way tie) 2013 - Her 2012 - Life of Pi 2011 - [no winner selected] [(okay, maybe The Intouchables, or The Skin I Live In, or Warrior)....ugh 2011 what happened?] 2010 - The Social Network / Toy Story 3 / Black Swan
It'd be interesting if the Academy awarded a "Runner-Up" statue for Best Picture.

Re: Rank the 2010s Best Picture winners
I think the runner up of each year would've been:
2014 - Boyhood 2013 - Gravity 2012 - Life of Pi 2011 - [no fucking clue.... The Descendents? Hugo? Moneyball? ugh] 2010 - The Social Network

I believe Hugo was the 2011 runner-up.

Re: Rank the 2010s Best Picture winners
Life of Pi was the runner up in 2013? I guess it won a bunch of technical awards, but no other film of that year was a clear runner up either.

Re: Rank the 2010s Best Picture winners
2012 is super-weird because even though Life of Pi won Best Director, the film never seemed to be strong in the race. I guess that is because after Affleck's DGA snub Argo basically steamrolled the competition, leaing nothing else a chance to stand out. Lincoln could have been the runner-up, but I am guessing that Argo was way ahead of the rest.
Hugo definitely was the runner-up in its year. I wonder if Avatar was the runner-up to The Hurt Locker or whether it was actually Precious.

Both are very mediocre, though. Good, but nothing I'd ever revisit. I skipped 12 Years a Slave because I don't watch white guilt movies.
