Happens every year. I know this 'phenomenon' you speak of, but was that seriously directed at my post? The top 10 I had "during the heat of the awards season" had TWO Oscar 'hopefuls' - Avatar and Up..... hardly trying to appear "knowledgeable about film" The difference between my Top 10 then and now reflects how many more films I've been able to see..... At the time I hadn't seen A Serious Man, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Ponyo, Adam, Taking Woodstock, Mary and Max, Moon, Whip It!, This Is It, and others. These all resonated with me personally, hence their appearance on my list. And some films didn't stand the test of time, hence their dropping down or off my list---Men Who Stare at Goats, Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Adventureland, Up, Where the Wild Things Are. Don't try to pigeon-hole me, fool.

I made a mistake. I got your quoted post mixed up with your new post.

A Serious Man is a great film. It's in my top 3 too.

 Re: Top 10 Of 2009
I want to watch A Serious Man. A Single Man doesn't really appeal to me.

 Re: Top 10 Of 2009
Old 2009 Version
1. 500 Days of Summer [not gonna change]
2. The Hangover 3. Star Trek 4. District 9 5. Taken 6. Knowing 7. Zombieland 8. This is It 9. Boondock Saints 2 0. Avatar
2014 (holy moly) Revision
1. Inglourius Basterds 2. A Single Man 3. 500 Days of Summer 4. Star Trek 5. District 9 6. The Hangover 7. Knowing 8. Taken 9. Zombieland 10. Up
This is more a case of films I actually continue to watch multiple times thus they have a longer lasting impression.

 Re: Top 10 Of 2009
01. Coraline (A+) 02. Summer Wars (A) 03. The Secret of Kells (A-) 04. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (A-) 05. Ink (B+) 06. Up (B+) 07. Avatar (B+) 08. Rookies (B) 09. Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance (B) 10. The Brothers Bloom (B)
A couple gems. There's a lot of films in the B-/B range for me, so 2009 is certainly one of my least favorites.

 Re: Top 10 Of 2009
I honestly forgot The Hurt Locker came out this year. I would have definitely added it to the list along with Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
