Love the inclusion of Gremlins. It's not on my list, but it's a fun movie.

of those i've seen...nosferatu is murnau's worst, and nosferatu is herzog's worst.

you're right that i'm ambivalent to the list so far; i've only seen two of them. :funny:

Price, have you seen the Herzog version?

Yes, and also Nosferatu a Venezia. Still, the restored version of the original is my preferred one.

My favorite Herzog is Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle.

Nosferatu the Vampyre might be my favorite by Werner. It or Fitzcarraldo.

Face/Off and Dirty Harry are good picks. But Nosferatu? Seriously?

There's no way that a young guy in his 20s or 30s regards Nosferatu as one of his favourite movies ever. I cannot see anybody getting in from work and putting on Nosferatu and watching it with so much joy time and time again. Respect that film, sure, but to put it into your Top 100 just reeks of "ooh, I'm hip and educated on film because I have films from the 1920s in my list". This is a 'reputation choice'. Nosferatu is not one of your favourite films, so this list is pure bullshit.

You are right. I saw Nosferatu when I was 11 years old and loved it ever since. People in their 20s and 30s don't like this movie, but people in their 10s do. :emo:

I liked an unrestored version of Nosferatu in my 0s and 10s and I liked the restored version that I saw on 3sat (the one with the lunatic electro soundtrack and "ORLOK ORLOK" chants whenever Nosferatu was within a range of 50 square miles) in my 20s. Now I'm waiting for the new Bluray version to be released.

I enjoy the versions with the bright colors and the music by the wop from the Daft Punk song.

Have seen 11/20, 8 of which are pretty great. Not a huge fan of Dirty Harry, Omen or Insider.

damn The Train looks awesome.

As usual with posters and trailers during that time, they go somewhat into hyperbole, but it really is a good one, half war film , half thriller.

some great movies now, the tenant is a delicious black comedy and les diaboliques is equally masterful. but i think scream is really average, it's not even better than halloween: resurrection which i saw yesterday. also let the right one in is rather overrated.

I saw Scream when it came out in theaters in 1996 and almost a year later when it was first released on DVD. I remember liking it both times, even if the surprise factor is not there the second time.

It may have been that at that time the slasher genre was rather in shambles with only sequels to Halloween, Child's Play, Friday the 13th, Prom Night or Silent Night, Deadly Night being released, but I really got a lot of enjoyment out of this one. All sequels were weaker though, and most of the new wave of slashers it spawned (IKWYDLS, Urban Legend, Valentine) didn't came close to this one.

I still like the genre though, no matter how 'bad' the movies are.

I wonder if Hellraiser might show up considering your fondness for horror.

i watch a lot of bad horror movies myself, i guess 50% of the stuff i'm watching is horror, and perhaps only 10% of them are any good :)

i can forgive your inclusion of scream if there will be a nice bava movie on your list. and i'm sure there will be 2 or 3 argento films, so all is well.
